7 Reasons The 10mm Is the Best Pistol Caliber

but there's no doubt that the 10mm delivers a High Coefficient Of Cool. HCOC.

That as part of the argument shows just how lame the argument is. Go back to 9 vs 45, it's just a dumb of a conversation.

(this from the guy that owns a 10mm)

I like the 10mm just as much as the next guy. In fact pondering buying the new Springfield XD-M Elite 3.8. But out of all the reasons to buy any gun the “HCOC” is only for the uninformed and misguided. There is no magic handgun bullet or caliber in common rounds for EDC. Placement and penetration rule the roost in defense.

This could follow along where somehow the 10mm is the best PCC too, because 9mm is too weak and why would you chamber your carbine in a rifle caliber when you could chamber it in a marginally better pistol caliber? I mean, come on man, we all know 10mm > 556 because reasons!

I suppose I will have to be satisfied with only marginal coolness since I have never had a 10mm and have no immediate plans to get one. We all must suffer from time to time from the consequences of our unfortunate decisions, but I think I will survive if not already having a 10mm is the worst decision I have made so far.

I must say that I switched from carrying a 1911 in 45 Auto to carrying a 629 44 Mag when I am down in the woods ever since I started seeing pictures on my trail cams of a mamma bear with several cubs several weeks ago. I also switched from a 223 to a 45/70 as a tractor rifle. Perhaps I actually should look into a 10mm autoloader, but a heavily loaded 44 Magnum is a great comfort.

Now..............................................where have I heard that before............lemme see...................oh yeah.

10mm is my favorite pistol cartridge, hands down. Mild to wild, in light to heavy weight bullets, it is super versatile. Perhaps THE most versatile auto pistol cartridge I know of...

Im glad it is seeing a bit of a resurgence, but do not care if it is now "cool" to people or not. Its always been a great round... and I dont need to be told it is "cool" to KNOW its Cool.

I typically stay out of "caliber wars" because they are just silly.

Unless we are dogging .40 s&w.... .40 sucks.

:p

That wasn’t even that long ago. It got you good!
I think part of my collection is driven by my desire to get more 1911s. I always liked the design, but could never owned any because .45ACP doesn't do it for me. 10MM 1911s are the best of both worlds, IMO. I need to get some holsters and I'll eventually starting carrying them.

I'm also a weirdo that isn't a big fan of rifles. I don't mean that politically, everyone should own what they want and I myself have enough ARs that I lose count sometimes. Nevertheless, I find a long guns too annoying to move around with inside buildings and annoying to take to the range. Also, Karens don't like it when I carry them at Chipotle. So, in that vein, 10MMs are especially attractive to me in that they remain carry options without being unconcealable (either legally or practically).

I recently purchased a 10mm pistol. I guess I’m a dork now since it’s supposed to be cool. 🙄

I’ll rustle up my 10mm’s tomorrow for a pic. Pretty sure there’s 8. Could be more…..

If you're not touching off 308 from a 5inch barrel you might as well not even have a gun for home defense

See, its that kind of thinking that will get you killed! You need a Barret M82 pistol with an arm brace, obviously. Loaded with Raufoss rounds of course.

Nothing else will do.

Slap pistol or gtfo

If'n yer still wantin' one, an' allow locks on yer S&Ws, I have one I'd part with... send PM!
I do appreciate it. The no lock with Smooth cylinder was my eye candy. Sadly, the funds are not there. Thanks anyway Mac

Suppose I did want to spend some of my hard-earned money before Creepy Joe and the crazy woman with dirty knees finds a way to take more of it, what 10mm autoloader should I try to find? I am not too crazy about most striker-fired pistols for carrying around in the woods and while working with tractors and chain saws.. I am quite fond of 1911s and CZ pistols for such applications if I am not carrying a revolver.

Doesn't necessarily have to be an auto loader there's some 10mm revolvers out there if you're a revolver guy
Gp100 and S&W come to mind

I have plenty of large revolvers. I have never been too fond of revolvers in chamberings that headspace on the mouth of the case. Moon clips can be used with a DA revolver, but I would rather deal with flat magazines than with moon clips. I would want an autoloader rather than a revolver if I were to get a 10mm.

I'love revolvers in ten mm and 44 special
I've got one of the three inch 10mm gp100 Ruger revolvers.
Carries well, accurate, fast reloads with the moon clips whats not to love .
I also have 4 autoloaders in 10 mm

I am glad you like your 10mm revolvers, but they are just not for me. I have found that moon clips are a pain when carrying extra ammo. Been there, done that. I have a 357 Magnum that can use moon clips and have actually tried to like them. Nope. Has not happened. Perhaps I just do not have the right gear to carry the load clips as conveniently as carrying flat magazines or flat loading strips. I suppose moon clips would be nice when playing some gun games with revolvers, but single action revolvers and autoloaders generally work better for the gun games I play.

Picked up a Rock Island double stacker from Flashpoint last week……

Ho Lee Crap!!!!

I like my G20, 29, and 40, but that 1911 wide-ass is AWESOME!!!!!! Way more fun than the single stack BBQ guns!!

I’ve put 100 through it this afternoon and banging steel at 100 yds with it!! And the upside down plate rack got hammered!! Even knocked an A/C 1/2” silhouette off its mount!!

In the immortal words of Randy Savage:
“OOOOOH YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!”
