I really enjoyed the original movie as a baseball story. This series isn't that.

It is a lesbian love story that somehow does not manage to be about anything else. There is a baseball team that plays baseball games, but it almost only exists to bring our young lovers together. There is a war going on, but only as an excuse for other female characters getting jobs. There is racism, but even that feels like a toned-down version of 1940s racism. Oh, there is a trans person so we can check that box too.

You might be tempted to watch just to see if Ferrisfan is over-reacting. You have been warned.

You're not. The other day I did an @Alabamacoastie and tuned into a few minutes of NPR where they were discussing the movie. Of course they made it out to be something wonderful.

Yesterday I read that Amazon also took a lot of the same liberties with the Tolkien series they're putting out and it was so over the top that even the critics complained about it.
