"If you are capable of providing for your own defense, and do not, you are overburdening a system that would otherwise be serving the disadvantaged. How very uncompassionate your stance is."

Never really thought of it this way, or at least put it into words. If we as individuals have the capacity and capability to do something, yet we rely on the system to support us, then we are being extremely uncompassionate to those who truly cannot do for themselves. It reminds me of perfectly able bodied men who suck on the government teat for food, money, healthcare, phones, whathaveyou, while the rest of us wake up and put in our 40-70 per week.

I likes it too!

I appreciate how that's stated. That fits with my overall personal mantra of being "self reliant". I do grind it out 40+ a week for that reason.

Ah, but that defeats the goal of dumbocrats. They want a super majority to depend on government so they can then repeal the constitution and implement full socialism. They already have so much of the minority population hooked that they'd vote for David Duke if if he had a (D) next his name.
They try to lock in seniors by constantly saying republicans want to kill them.
Dumbocrats already call single income two parent families that take care of their own "tax evaders" and "leaches."

He would not be allowed in the DNC today.
He'd be called a racist.

I was 5 when he said this. I don't think I saw the original telecast, so I must have seen replays, but this has always stuck with me. Maybe because my father used to day something similar. "Better for others to owe you, than for you to owe others."

Yes, it was a different time.

I wonder what JFK had on the Clinton's?

That quote is awesome and going into my quote file for the grandsons!
