So this weekend I am the Shoot Boss for a Project Appleseed Marksmanship Clinic in Charlotte. One of the Instructors in Training is completing his final Under-Instruction Shoot before taking his Red Hat and Full Instructor Status with the program.

For those of you who have never attended an Appleseed, I highly recommend you do so - not because we get paid (we're an all volunteer organization) but because the mission of Appleseed is important, especially today, when common ground seems elusive, and looking around it seems like the important question is "Where are we going? And why are we in this handbasket?"

Part of his duties this weekend was relating 2/3rds of the history portion taught at Appleseed - and I was absolutely blown away by the way he did it.

Awe-struck, even - even though I have told the same history time and time again for years - it hit me as hard as the first time I heard it, way back in 2012. It's a story most of you probably don't know, but a story every American should hear.

I even told him I was recording it next time and stealing it - it was that good. So he pointed me to his source, which is the video below.

After teaching history and marksmanship all day, hearing this same story, I listened to it on the way home....all hour and a half of it.

THIS is why you stand for our Rights and Liberty.

THESE were the fateful decisions - decisions of huge consequence - that were made by farmers, shopkeepers, blacksmiths, and silversmiths.....people just like you, and like me.

People that arguably had more pressing things to do,more important places to be.

Excuses NOT to stand.

Just like every single on of us here.

This video is the best I have seen in a long, long time. It's a LibertySeed in Indiana (basically an Appleseed with no shooting instruction). Give it a watch, and see if history doesn't rhyme.

Then make a choice.

Enjoy.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time......

I'm sorry I missed this event. I had hoped to go and shoot my perfect 250 this calendar year, but I guess it'll have to wait till 2020. Thank you and all of the volunteers who make these events so awesome.

That'd be a thing to see. I have seen a 247, but never a clean 250.

We have a patch for that now.

How often does that happen? Just in Ramseur at events for example. I would guess less than one per year. I have been to about 10 and never seen one or even very close. Maybe at the boot camps? Anyway, just curious.

Not very. I have worked 17 shoots as an instructor, attended 5 or so as a student/shooter, been to a couple KD events and a new advanced Appleseed program that's in development to teach the basics of precision rifle shooting, and taking the 4 MOA standard from regular Appleseed and making folks a 2 MOA shooter or better.

The final to "qualify" for that one is shooting an actual 4" x 6" ceder shingle a la Morgan's Rifle Company at 250 yards with irons OR 500 yards with glass.

In all of those, I have never seen a 250 score. I have seen maybe one of two talked about on the AARs for shoots I didn't attend, but like I said, we have a patch for it now (in addition to the Distinguished badge for shooting a 230 w/irons or a 240 w/optics).

So rare but not so rare that we don't have pre-made swag to award folks who achieve it. It was meant to attract folks back with something else to chase once they made Rifleman.

Ive shot 2 249's and a boat load of 248's with my cz 452 trainer and a set of tech sights, but getting that 250 has been very elusive so far. I normally shoot the standing and prone clean, but i'm on the heavy side and shooting from the sitting position just doesn't work for me, so I shoot everything kneeling. That's normally where my dropped points are at. I've been to 3 appleseed's and plan to shoot at least 2 more next year.

Our "April 19th" is coming. As sure as I live and breathe. Will we steer or sleep? If you can keep it...indeed.
