ABC 11 attacking one of our members!

“Gun = up to no good = gotta say something.”
Kind of like if I said "neighbors are concerned that Mr. Hoggard is molesting kids at the playground" but didn't actually accuse him or offer any evidence to back it up. Nice way to smear someone without getting into trouble about it.
if you live in a subdivision that’s full of “town criers”, watch yourself.
It’s a bunch of neighbors who are pissed
If they had 'red flag'ed him, what would have happened?

Seems like another use case for these 'laws', instead of calling the media you call in the swat team... and the media... makes for a bigger show and immediately shuts down the dealer since his inventory is gone and he's in jail. Libs are happy, gun culture has to move further underground.
People will raise a stink about a legitimate gun business next door because of some perceived “danger”

Please, don't kill the messenger [me]. This^^^^^ is exactly how they will Red Flag us outta existence. Less than 8 years left.

This is ultimately their strategy, run the story minus facts or any sort of investigation. It then ruins the individual or business reputation, afterwards if it's discovered that things were reported incorrectly issue a retraction of the story on page 8. Damage done, mission accomplished. Look at all the hit pieces pulled off by the media these days. It works brilliantly.

If the heat gets too much for the new channel then you just fire the $14 an hour beat reporter and throw him under the bus.

I'm just wondering, why can't we as a forum family-if needed, collect our own funds and deliver the funds directly to him? We don't need " GoFundMe" to do this -and they would probably be data mining everyone that contributes. We don't need anti-gun websites or anyone telling us what we can or can't do. Just a thought for the Mods here.

New rules. If anyone has the time and ability scour this guys social media. Not looking to Dox him like he did CS&G. But looking for anything stupid he has said. New rules, when play to win. Most of his twitter is work related unless someone can turn up a personal account.

There's an address listed for the same spelling of his name on Durham County's Tax Administration online record search. Same neighborhood as Shawn.

Might be more effective to target his boss or someone higher up in the organization for their blatant lack of journalistic integrity and pandering to the Librul myths that “anyone can walk into a store and buy whatever the owner feels they’re safe enough to possess.”
You're assuming the higher-ups care about journalistic integrity. "News" media, I don't see the evidence.

Rush Limbaugh uses the term "drive-by media" a lot. He has said that the news organizations are like drive-by shooters; they pull up, destroy some lives, then move on to the next corner leaving destruction in their wake. And that is a perfect illustration of what has happened here.

No updates. Waiting for a letter from the city saying my license is revoked for a home business. The site crashed. Waiting to out to put it back up. Just wait and see now. My only concern is for the few nfa forms I have in the process. We were already considering stopping just because the market is shit right now. Same reason we stopped doing shows.

Have a question maybe for a leagle type does the first ammendment protect lies and defamation?

The difficulty is not proving damage, it would be proving malice. We can all look at that article and see what the point of it was. Proving that would be much more difficult.

@BatteryOaksBilly , excellent points, and why I don't say squat to anyone about what I own or how much. I'm even very conscientious on here. We know it's wrong to have to be forced to do it, but we are being forced to be the gray man and live in the shadows. If that keeps me off anyone's radar, all the better.
In some ways it is better to retreat at a particular time or from a particular location to fight another time or way, but I stand firmly against the idea that we must slink into the shadows. Find a way to show the world that the things we believe and are willing to defend are not extreme. Open carry on occasion while dressed well so people can see responsible people like themselves choosing individual liberty. Put tasteful pro gun stickers on your vehicle. Yes it increases the chances of break ins or getting keyed but do it and prepare for the consequences, possibly with a badass car camera /alarm.

It's a fight people and very very few of us are fighting. We're just letting ourselves get pushed into obscurity and viewed as extreme kooks because we're too afraid our car might get damaged or we might be looked down upon. F your car and your need to be accepted by such people. Which is more important in the long run, your peace of mind or our rights? Get your priorities straight!!

Not directed specifically at you Billy but I hear this all the time and you happened to be the recipient of a pent up rant. Rant over.

I live this way for the same reason I don't put anything on my vehicles, for the same reason I carry concealed, for the same reason I dress like 80% of 51 year-old Caucasian males. I do not stand out, because standing out makes me a target. You might be making a stand, but you are also making yourself a target. I am more concerned about my family than our rights. My priorities are fine. It worked for Ho Chi Minh, it worked for the mujaheddin, and it's worked for many other people over thousands of years against societies who were repressive regimes.

In other words, you do you, boo....

"It's sitting on the top of my mind," said nearby resident Eric Gomes, who lives with his daughter and wife. "Everyone and anyone can obtain a gun that this person is able to sell and able to ship it off."

What the hell does that even mean? I had to read it twice to make sure I wasn't the dumb one.

I showed that comment to my wife, and substituted the post office as an example to show how utterly and perplexingly stupid it is: "Everyone and anyone can obtain stamps and boxes that they are able to sell and ship (it) off." Yeahhhhhh.....it's all legal, dude.....

It means this individual has his head shoved so far up his rear end he has lack of oxygen.

One question. If this "concerned neighbor" is truly concerned that something "illegal" is taking place why is he talking to the news and not to the police????

Because man, if the police come around its screws with the dope sales and he aint no snitch

Has ABC11 responded to anyone who sent the yenta reporter and/or news director an email? The station has usually been pretty swift at getting back to me, even if I voiced complaints about a particular story. This time, it's radio silence, which makes me think they've been inundated with complaints.

Wishful thinking, perhaps.

I did not get any sort of response. Figured at least a canned response of thanks for watching.

The "story" is on the wway website down here in Wilmington now

I was wondering if he ever attempted to meet his neighbor, who could have calmly answered his questions. Nice to meet you neighbor, I was just about to get a glass of lemonade, care to join me? No, you are not in any danger. Yes, it's all legal. I don't just mail guns out to just anyone. I am subject to surprise audits by BATFE and would face severe penalties if every check box on every one of my transactions was not absolutely perfect. I keep very few guns in the house, and always in a safe. No, I don't have those crazy gun people coming to the house. Didn't I see you at the picnic last year?

I understand where you are, I do.

But sometimes human events force us to make a stand that maintains there very priorities you state, but requires active, energetic defense of the latter to ensure the safety of the former.

In another time, it was put this way:

I once felt all that kind of anger, which a man ought to feel, against the mean principles that are held by the Tories: a noted one, who kept a tavern at Amboy, was standing at his door, with as pretty a child in his hand, about eight or nine years old, as I ever saw, and after speaking his mind as freely as he thought was prudent, finished with this unfatherly expression, "Well! give me peace in my day."

Not a man lives on the continent but fully believes that a separation must some time or other finally take place, and a generous parent should have said,

"If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace;"

and this single reflection, well applied, is sufficient to awaken every man to duty.

Thomas Paine, The Crisis, 1776

How many Vietnamese suffered and died under Ho Chi Minh and his Communist Party, or Afghani women and children under the Taliban, the successors to the mujihadeen?

How many Hong Kong residents, accustomed to the blessings of Liberty, even now, at this very minute, suffer under the Communist crackdown in their streets?

A Free People, if they intend to remain so, must consistently and bravely demand that Freedom, not huddle in our homes and pray the scout of tyranny ignores us, or passes us by.

I understand what you are saying; but if Rights are not secure, then your wife and children have no more firm a grasp on their Lives than they can grab hold of the fog.

Beyond that, you are teaching them that their Rights and Liberty are important, that they may in turn safeguard it for your grandchildren, great grandchildren, and millions yet unborn.

And, by the way, how have you prepared to protect your family and yourself?

We can write letters to FCC when the station is up for license renewal for not being balanced in their reporting.

No response here. And the anchor seems to keep his social media pretty clean and work related.

I would rather have the truth than some sort of 'balance'. I mean, what are they 'balancing' exactly? The truth and not the truth? Lies and some other lies?

Why haven’t we heard more? I’d guess there’s no real “news” there ... there was just a stupid internet attack that made a 2 minute blip about it. I don’t think there has been anything outside of that since.

- No news of blood running in the street in front of Shawn’s.
- No news of Durham police or ATF raiding Shawn’s ... which we knew would never happen since he abides by all firearms laws and regulations.
- No more neighbor interviews ... I’m guessing that all Shawn’s other neighbor’s like him and don’t think he’s doing anything wrong or scared he’s going to cause trouble since he hasn’t since 2012.

The only thing that the ABC newsbender could have a chance to report on, I’m guess from Shawn’s post, is what the the city of Durham says about his business license ... which I’m hoping will be no action either.

We can hope that the business was run as legal as we believe and that no transgressions have been committed and he gets back to business. I believe that all this free (yet negative) press can and will help his business grow and prosper. Like the outrage expressed here, I'm sure there are a lot more potential customers who are equally angry and will look him up for future business.

If he can post his Pay Pal address here, I'll be the first to donate some money for whatever expense he needs to pay. He's been temporarily damaged and if it goes further we need to get him enough money to hire the best lawyer out there to not only get his business back but to also sue all the parties that harmed him, his family and his business. ABC11 and DeJuan can be listed first for harmful and reckless reporting without interviewing the affected party before broadcasting it on their news. This needs to be addressed ASAP.

I don't know what the City of Durham would normally do in a case like this. I mean, if someone was baking pies in their home and had the same restrictions, and got caught with customers picking up from the home, and there had never been any complaints before, would Durham's first response be to shut them down? Or would it be a warning or fine?

And I haven't seen anything in print or broadcast where CS&G was even accused of violating the terms of his business license. One thing is for sure, with the tedious record keeping required, it's going to be difficult for someone to lie and say he picked up at CS&G's home.

I sent one letting them know this is why no one reapects them and why they are fake news.
