Could someone explain to me what they're smoking?

$40 Magpul LR20 pmags
$2500 Romanian PSL
$700 stock Glocks
$850 N-PAP
$50 Glock mags

They're embarrassing themselves. Why anyone would buy anything but a $20 transfer is beyond me.

I'm jealous of anyone with a good LGS because I've never had one anywhere I've lived.

Demographics?

More household income area?

Want it now folks that don't care of price?

I stopped in there awhile back. I glanced around at some of the prices and went right back out the door. Maybe I spent 5 minutes in the store.

His pricing structure defies anything and everything to do with "normal" business. He has a ton of guns for a reason, nobody buys them!!! I've been in there a dozen times looking for something one off and have never seen a single person buying a GUN...

I used to stroll through pawn shops to see what was on the rack and sometimes there were some pretty good finds. Lately, it seems that every pawn shop has been infected with "Pawn Staritis" and used firearms are priced above MSRP and forget new ones. Accessories and mags are priced at absurd levels that even with haggling over the price, you still won't land on a price any better than what you can get from a lgs.

People are always buying guns from Bob. I admit that the first couple times I went in I was put off by the "prices" then I asked and that's not the real price. He will give an OK deal on most of his used guns. This sight doing deals with one another is the best way to keep the prices down on almost all guns.

I've heard it's one of those places, kinda like Highats, that you have to spend alot of time in there and develop a rapport with them to get a "good" deal.

You guys are making great cases to continue online buying and avoid local. I like to support local, but I ain't no damn sucker. I gotta feed the kids too. And I sure ain't spending time building a rapport with them.

Im with you on this topic.
Im not hanging out around a pawn shop to build rapport, or getting a bunch of bad deals in the process.

I think Bob would gladly sell his stuff for the marked price if someone wanted to pay it. Make him an offer, he might say no, but he might say yes.

Bobs reputation is that of a hagler, but why not just buy from Jerek? Dude has the best prices, probably in this region
Who is Jerek?

The only LGS I have bought from here and didn't feel like I was bending over was Poppie's in Salisbury. Even then, though, I knew I was paying a bit of a premium over online prices.

I've bought two guns from Jerek in the last 2 months. The only thing I can say is I wish I'd had found him sooner. You can't beat his prices. He got both guns for me and held them for me without a deposit even though I had never done any prior business with him. I'll only be buying from him from now on. The last thing I want to do is go and have to haggle over something I want to buy.

oh. That's a bit of a haul.
Last I talked to him it's actually all gun shows now. He does them somewhere around 48-50 weekends a year.

Correct

It is, but he has the best prices around. You can find him at any of the gun shows in NC, well he'll be there, getting up past the line is a whole different story[/QUOTE]

Yep, that has been my problem when I tried to talk with someone at the show.

This is correct for the time being. I'm tending to my grandmother quite a bit during the daytime hours during the week. This is of course when I'm not chasing around a 19 month old. And to top it off, we are expecting our daughter on December 24th.... though we are taking bets on an actual date.

Over the years, I have bought dozens of guns from Bob. He likes to haggle and the high tag prices are aimed at helping him on trades, too. He moves a lot of guns, but he does make you work for it.

I don't blame anyone for not wanting to mess with the way he does business, but I've done very well dealing with him. Since I like mostly older collectibles, it isn't so much a matter of finding it cheaper somewhere else. It is a matter of he has it, I want it, now let's see if we agree on price. We usually do, eventually but it can take an hour or more to get there.

I posted this in another thread - but I was given two prices this weekend on one gun. Jerek, aka Knifeman aka Backwoods Bang Shop, was so much lower I laughed loud when I read his PM.
Jerek, being a super nice guy and remembers folks so well - his wife is really nice too, is a guy the other vendors HATE. I heard so much trash talk about them this weekend because they actually move guns, not trying to make hundreds of dollars on each gun purchase etc (not counting accessories).
Go to a gun show, meet the guy, talk to him about a new firearm.

backwoods is in the sticks in davie co. he works a farm too unless something has changed the aisle puts high prices on guns he will come down he likes to make you think your the better haggler bought guns from both places
