They better invest in setting up solar farms (on top of their warehouse/distribution centers) for power to recharge the batteries or the “carbon footprint” saving will be for naught unless the local power plant is nuclear powered.

Very true, but factor in the cost of many trucks these days and 80k is becoming more and more reasonable.
4 door f150 starts in the low 50s, and goes up from there (as an example)
 
This is a brilliant move for them. Vertical integration is where it’s at.

I guarantee within 10 years Amazon will Completely supplant UPS/FedEx
 
Just like inkjet and laser printers, the EV carsa trucks sell at a loss but make the profit on the charging stations.;)
 
That's how technology takes off. Once people talked about those Horseless Carriages the same way.
