Methinks that Tom is just a little perturbed at these two...

Tom Kratman

The following missive was posted by me, last night, towards a couple of dumb sh*ts (one Jim S**** and David W******) whose military qualifications appear to be limited to playing call of duty. They did not, you see, understand what an actual assault rifle is and does:

David, Jim, the two of you are so unbef*ckinglievably ignorant that the word ignorant doesn't even begin to cover it. To quote somebody or other, you need to learn your limits. Besides that you're ignorant, you are both also arrogant and stupid. Indeed, you both epitomize these flaws so perfectly, that I couldn't hope to correct all of them, so I'm just going to hit the high points.

Let's start, now, with _my_ qualifications.

I am a retired infantry officer, civil affairs officer, and inspector general, with thirty-two years of service, including twenty years as a regular army officer or reservist on active duty, and a dozen in one component or another of the reserves. I am an Army Ranger, and hold the CIB. I have commanded three companies and one battalion. I have been commissioned, non-commissioned, and enlisted, in the Regular Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard, in peace and war, in CONUS, Europe, Latin America, North Africa, and the Middle East. I have led or commanded organizations of light infantry, heavy infantry, indirect fire infantry, supply and transport, personnel administration, and initial entry training. I have been a primary or repetitive secondary in every traditional staff position, S1-4. (This is what we call a well rounded career.) I hold a doctorate in law from Washington and Lee University, as well as degrees in political science and philosophy from Boston College. A Wall Street Journal bestselling author, I was once the only two and a half year old with an adult library card in South Boston, Massachusetts.

If you chose not to believe it, go f*ck yourselves; I can sleep the sleep of the just whatever idiots like you two fools believe.

Yes, an assault rifle is used in an assault. What is an assault? I invite your meagre attention to FM 1-02, Operational Terms and Graphics. Or, since you are probably intellectually incapable or finding it on you own, here, in pertinent part:

"assault – (DOD) 1. The climax of an attack, closing with the enemy in hand-to-hand fighting. See FM 3-90. 2. To make a short, violent, but well-ordered attack against a local objective, such as a gun emplacement, a fort, or a machine gun nest."

From FM 3-21.8, The Infantry Rifle Platoon and Squad:
ASSAULT FIRE A-69. Automatic riflemen use assault fire when in close combat. Assault fire involves firing without the aid of sights using the hip, shoulder, and underarm positions. The underarm position is best when rapid movement is required. In all three positions, automatic riflemen adjust their fire by observing the tracer and the impact of the bullets in the target area. Additional considerations for automatic riflemen using assault fire include— z Maintaining alignment with the rest of the assault element. z Reloading rapidly. z Aiming low and adjusting the aim upward toward the target. z Distributing fires across the objective when not engaging enemy automatic weapons.

I know this is a hard concept for you, given that the two of you, together, could not muster 4 spare brain cells, but the fact that it is designed to be an assault rifle, fireable from the hip, does not mean that it cannot also serve as a regular rifle, fired from the shoulder. It will not do so as well as a hunting rifle, or at as long a range, because the trade off to serve as an assault rifle is that it uses what is called an "intermediate cartridge," which is to say one sufficiently underpowered that it can be reasonably well controlled while firing on automatic during the aforementioned rush.

Now just go f*cking die because you're too stupid to live.

Assault Rifle is the modern day equilivilent of Saturday Night Special, very generic so it can be used as a catch all for whatever the
liberals want to ban this week.
