Another carpenter bee problem.

I've made traps from a piece of 4x4 and a Pickle jar, put maple syrup in the bottom and catch a few. I love wacking them with a badminton racket or fly flap. My dog goes nutty when he see's one, starts barking and doing circles.... not sure what that is about but makes them easier to find.

This! I have some of these made up and it works excellent. I put honey in the bottom and it fills with carpenter bees in no time. Emptied 11 out last night.

Spray all wood areas with VIPER. You can buy it on Amazon. You may have to spray a couple of times until June. After that you’ll not really have to worry about it unless you see a few late borers, the egg laying season is usually over around June.

Second this. If you don't want to make your own you can buy them on Amazon/eBay.

ETA: Just priced them on Amazon/eBay. HOLY CRAP!!!! Definitely make your own. It's easy. And will end up costing a fraction of what they're selling for, Hell, make several and sell them for half the price of Amazon and make some side ammo cash.

Wait until well after dark and fill their holes with caulking after they've gone in to bed for the night.

Scout and find them in the daytime and fill as many holes as you can find for several nights and you'll see the population dwindle significantly.

Buy one or two of these and swat them. It’s like the hand of Zeus hitting them. Then when they are stunned and on the ground, I smash them up with a boot stomp. Word to the wise don’t use wasp spray and then zap them…it’s flammable and will burn them up but can also burn your stuff up https://go.harborfreight.com/coupons/2021/04/177564-63681/

Viper insecticide?

I dont think anything keeps them gone for long

Flying insects are the worst to control. Changing the habitat, or other physical means of intervention are a must. Chemicals are certainly a deterrent but are rarely successful in controlling the population. All the bees have to do is steer clear of the treated areas for a short time and they're right back.

LOL,,, Good comments from all. Brake and carb cleaner works well if you can hit them but I swear they can see the spray coming at them and they just dodge out of the way. Ive got a trap and its about an inch and a half worth of dead ones in there, maybe I will try some honey like Member Saiga 12 suggested? Tried a badminton racket but they are hard to find in this lil backwater town, the one I did find that was on of those dumb kid friendly ones that are sort of cloth covered. Not effective on bees but easy on the dumb kids when they wack each other with them. Shot shells in area is not a good idea,, I sort of live in the hood and will have answering fire from 9 MM's real fast. Will try the honey and find a better more lethal badminton racquet. Thanks all..

gotta wait till dusk when they're in their tunnels and then spray the crap out of the tunnel with the carb cleaner while they're in there. make sure to coat hanger it afterwards to kill all the larva, and i would always jb weld up the holes

I use this about 3 times per boring bee season in my sprayer and soak the wood. Works the best of anything I have found. I mix it a little stronger than it says to. Maybe 4 ozs per gallon

WD-40 works surprising well. Spray on a somewhat windless day and when they fly thr the fog will fly about 20 feet then hit the dirt. The spray nozzle/tube works well for the holes they were drilling killing the larva. Think I got about 40 so far and just a few left. Good day in the hood for me, not so much for the bees.

I mixed 1 oz of Dominion 2 L insecticide in s weed sprayer with water. Sprayed the wood with it they were hanging around and haven’t seen them back in 4 days now.
