One week ago a package was sent to me from Ashland, VA by FedEx. It was routed to Hagerstown, MD, then to Martinsburg, WV, and then to Middletown, CT. You can drive from Ashland, VA to Lewisville, NC in about 4 hours. In 7 days FedEx has managed to move my package to a point that is over 10 hours away from me. By the time it reaches me (assuming it isn't sent to yet another ridiculous destination) it will have traveled 1,228 miles.
The left picture shows how a sane person would go from Ashland to Lewisville. The right picture is the FedEx version.

It’s not about you, it’s about logistics.

Individually, it doesn’t make sense. But they aren’t sending things hundreds of miles out of the way for no reason.

Kind of like the city bus. If I want to travel a few miles over to the next town, I can’t (directly). I have to take the bus into the city, then transfer to get on the bus to the town over. Seems like a waste for me personally, but it’s a better system overall, when we account for “not just me”.

Sometimes with FedEx/UPS/USPS I swear the only thing that makes sense is my box must be in the middle of a pallet, and they aren’t going to do a darn thing about getting it to me until the top two layers of that pallet make their way to Maine and back. 😆
Then they shouldn't send me emails like this one. 1000010613.jpg

Reactions: Me.
The last two FedEx deliveries I received in the last two weeks had been torn open, re-taped and items inside were missing. Waiting on one shipped 1/12. Vendor says they must give FedEx 14 business days to deliver. Still don't have a tracking number. FedEx SUCKS!

If it's FedEx your box is likely in the trunk of some employees car.

Not sure if this package came from and individual or business. A few pointers, If you reuse a box always tear off all labels barcodes smart codes etc. inside and outside. 2. pickup the phone and call their customer service # Its a pain but trust me they can get someone where your package was last scanned to put their eyes on it. If shipping put a label on the outside and inside of the box preferably in a label holder for both. People like to tape over the label with clear tape, it will distort, mar the label where it can't be read or scanned.
I've worked for a fortune 100 transportation company just about 30 years so a little inside knowledge. No I do not deliver and or touch packages. Had to add the last bit because everyone that knows where I work at some point calls and will ask me to find their package.

I ordered a new pair of hiking boots early last week. "Free shipping" via FedEx. Was supposed to be delivered Thursday, then Friday, now sitting 'pending'.

Yeah, it's on me. Luckily I don't consider them a high priority thing as I have no big plans to use them, but still such an annoyance.

FedEx certainly has gone down hill in my personal experience with them over the last 5 years. This isn't helping.

ETA: Tuesday and as of this writing still no delivery. Have Ralph call me.

If you have a FedEx package coming with "adult signature required" be prepared for the driver to want to scan the backside of your driver's license. However, they do not have to scan it, see below from the FedEx website.

If the POS driver had allowed this today, it would have saved me and him both a lot of time and aggravation and the 3 sheriff deputies would not have needed to come out, after he called and told them I stole my package off his truck and "he felt threatened". He has now been told that he is never allowed back on my property, otherwise he will be trespassed and it was witnessed by all 3 deputies, who agreed that it would happen. This is the second run in with this same contract driver, and he was pissed off because I filed a complaint about him last time and he got in trouble.

I will pay extra to use other shipping methods other than FedEx, and if there is no other option, I will give instructions to hold the package at the FedEx depot and I'll pick it up myself.

I have had a few missing shipments with them in the past and they all were last scanned at the Evansville, IN facility.
Fist was 5x .50 API rounds in 2020 and second time it was 10x 37mm “animal control” rounds in 2021. Both were shipped from FL and everything was fine until they got there.
The customer service rep was none to thrilled about having explosives missing from their facility and that they should be expecting a call from the BATFE. Got a call from the feds to have a statement taken about the shipping and requested my package tracking data. Never heard anything since 😐

I have mine held at the Walgreens right up the street. A lot closer and easier to deal with than the depot.

"stole" your package off the truck. Uh huh, sounds like envy to me. The company who can't seem to ever make a successful delivery on the first try gets all bent outta shape when the recipient manages to receive it in spite of them.

I'm lucky, I have decent FedEx and UPS drivers here.

I use a delivery service named "Fetch". Can have anything from a letter to a refrigerator (especially for cases of ammo) delivered to their business address. USPS, Fed Ex, any business, private party, etc can send to them. They have an app that tells me when something is delivered and asks me where and when I want it delivered. Also if I require a signature or not. Sometimes it's nice when I work late unplanned, I just have them deliver to my business rather than home. Not sure if they cover your area or how much it costs... it's an amenity of my lease.

37mm animal control rounds? Do you have a T-Rex running loose in your neighborhood?

I thought I had some sketchy trailer parks near me but nothing that can't be handled with the belt fed mounted on the truck bed.

USPS ain't much better. The problem is they don't sort stuff where it is first put into the system. In years past the post office had mail boxes all over town for you to drop your mail in. At the post office there were two. One for out of town and one for in town. The in town never left town, but got sorted and delivered here. All others went to a sorting facility and then on to who knows where.

Recently I got a piece of mail in my box that was my neighbors. I went over and gave it to her. I noticed the address that sent it was just across the woods from me. I could literally hit their front door with a rifle shot if it it weren't for the trees. Yet this piece went all the way to Raleigh and back just to wind up in the wrong mail box.

I had 2 shotguns that went in Fedex for repair and came back the same way to me, guess I got lucky.

37mm animal control rounds?
It’s how I’ve loopholed IL fireworks laws. Even had 2 badges complement me on my workaround. The rounds are sold as maritime “signaling devices” and “animal control” rounds so they are not fireworks (in the legal language used) to the state here. So long as one doesn’t tamper with the rounds or intentionally turn it on people/property, there’s nothing the state can really do short of writing new laws or local ordinances.
I have a TWIC card and spent a few years working in the lab at ones of the local oil terminals along the river so it’s easy for me to explain possession and have credentials that support it.
Let’s face it…if you’ve ever fired one, you’d see the rounds are really just “fireworks”.

Yeah dont order shoes specifically thru FedEx. Will disappear as soon as they hit certain facilities (like Kernersville).

Tinfoil hat says the weird routes you see are on purpose, someone re-routes them, so they can steal whatever you paid for.

I hate fedex so much.
