I'm looking to upgrade from Scepter cans to something that's easier to use and less likely to leak. I'm currently looking at these for long term storage of my "non potable water" reserves: https://www.roverparts.com/parts/GJC20 These are on sale so I'm thinking about buying a few.

My main complaints about the scepter cans are 1) the cap is hard to open/close 2) the seals are unreliable. I am very happy with the way they pour with a screw-in spout I made up at the hardware store.

Do any of you have experience with these or with something better?

Thanks

I've got half a dozen of these I've had for a number of years. Have them mainly to store gas-I mean non-potable liquid - for the generator but use them to fuel the yard equipment during the year to keep the fuel cycled. I only put no-E gas-I mean non-potable liquid - in them and add sta-bil for good measure. I'm very happy with them.

They don’t have the required non-venting spouts required for gasoline approval...ie they work too well.

For water I’d be thinking barrels or buckets (they are easily stored empty), not 5gal Jerry cans, but everyone’s needs are different. [edit, it took me a while, I’m an idiot]

They're great cans, got mine from Old Grouch in Clyde, but they appear to be out.
Line the lid up before pushing the latch/lock down, it's fairly easy to bend.
Get yourself some spare gaskets, easily replaceable, mine are 6yo cracked, but not leaking, every time I see a thread on them I mean to order some.

Pretty big fan of VP Racing for fluid storage/transport solutions also, fool proof and super fast pouring.

Man, I wouldnt want to give my insurance company any hint of a reason to deny a claim in case of a fire. Always wondered if the insurance company paid when those two idiots over near me shot a propane tank in their garage and burned the house and 2 cars to the ground.

Cans stay in a shed 75 ft from the house. I pulled the trigger on this today... I'll post more info when they arrive.

Ordered 5 cans on Wed PM and they were on my porch at 9am today. These seem very sturdy and the seals are rock solid. Only compaint is the uncured paint inside. Not sure yet how that might affect the contents.

I would leave the lid open out in sun to let it cure if you could if not I would atleast strain the first can or 2 of liquid to be dispensed to make sure it didnt break the paint down and into something else.
