I had to take my mother's 15 year old Golden Retriever to be put down yesterday. He was a good dog and lived a very long life. It's still the worst part of being a dog owner.
My mom is doing ok. She has another Golden that is 12. My mom is 91. If mom outlives the other one that will really be a tough day.

Condolences to your mom and the rest of your family.

I'm sorry for her loss. Also at her age it wouldn't be wise to get a new one as a companion for her other dog.

Unless there is a senior at the pound that needs a place to live out it's remaining days. You'd be surprised how many owners pass and the dogs end up in the pound after a lifetime of service..

I'm sorry your Mom lost her friend.

Sorry to hear brother

I feel the pain. It is hard.
But there is not a more unconditional love, but from a good dog.

Sorry for the loss.

Sorry to hear this bad news. Losing a pet is always tough.

Thanks for all the thoughts. Mom still has another 12 yo Golden. Both of them are a little down right now but they will be ok.

So sorry...we lost a 17 year old and 13 year old last year. Hug your Mother and tell her we are all thinking about her.

Sorry to hear about her loss.

Sorry for your loss. Our next door neighbor's just had to put their husky down and our 13 yo Plott hound/lab mix is walking up to the bridge in the near future.

I took my golden on his last ride to the vet about a year ago and I still get choked up thinking about it. My most sincere condolences to your mother and you.
