Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper responded to the incident Monday night, tweeting that even though the Charlottesville tragedy is “unacceptable,” there’s a “better way to remove these monuments.”

How about we leave em alone?

I'd like to think that's what will happen, but it won't.

If anything, those who desecrated the memorial will be heralded as "heroes" and put on a pedestal of their own for the bravery/courage they displayed in taking down such an offensive, immoral symbol of hate.

Sounds far-fetched, but it ain't.

World's f*ckin' upside down. Best we can do is take care of our loved ones, have each other's back and keep our sh*t wired tight for the inevitable times approaching that will require our sh*t to be wired tight.

For now, it's mostly an attack on ideals, symbols, certain speech. Eventually, they'll be brazen enough to start widespread attacks on people/their families who embrace/display specific ideals, beliefs or symbols.

At that point, the fight they think they want may prove to be the fire with which they wished they hadn't played.

Karma is a bitch and she is undefeated.

Of course. No one of sound mind wants/wishes to see things go any further down the turd pipe than they already are, but unfortunately, most of these folks seem hell-bent on accomplishing what they've set out to do. I'd love to see a peaceful resolution, but it's apparent that peace, according to Antifa and their ilk, can only be obtained when everyone thinks/acts/believes as they do and they've proven they have no hesitation at all to use violence in an attempt to coerce others.

I read the Durham Police refused to step in since the statue is on county property and the responsibility of the sheriffs department to protect and defend, but they did spray it with cooking oil so it would be harder to climb (?).

The actions of the Durham City Police department yesterday gave legitimacy to the acts of the protesters...and they went with it; in effect, LEOs stood by and watched, providing tacit approval of the protesters actions. I have yet to read any government officials response to the incident that condones the actions of the protesters...

The Dogs of War are watching...
 
Now that the seal is broken, the first monument is down and nothing happened. It will encouragement others and we will start seeing all of them vandalized. If the government won't take them down, they will do it themselves. No lawmakers are going to stop them. But it won't stop there, their eyes will quickly turn to the next offensive thing.
