Any other Retro heads?

Any of these mark Mattel toy's, great looking Rifles.

Many made fun of the M16 as being a "Toy Gun." This was not helped by the fact that the Mattel toy company manufactured the plastics for the M16.

Just how retro??

Very nice!. I'd love to build me a retro A1, but life seems to be getting in the way right now. I'd settle for an old Colt SP1 at this point.

Sure, I'll whore this picture out AGAIN. I never mind doing so. :p USGI upper, furniture, and all of the important little bits. Built by James Mayo of CMP Armory in Dallas NC.

For vintage parts Sarco inc. Is my go to supplier but I have found many hard to find parts on ebay. Just instead of putting AR whatever in the search box use something like 5.56 flash hider. Ebay will not let people sell AR parts so people list them as 5.56 or .223 parts instead.

My brother spent some time with the 101st at Camp Eagle in Phu Bai in t970-71. A few years ago he said he would like to have a rifle like the one his Uncle Sam let him use while he was there. I rummaged around in my "stuff" and found the complete upper with the triangle hand-guards that i bought from an Army friend in the mid 70s. If I recall correctly I paid $20.00 for it then. Bought a lower that was the correct color to match the upper. Bought a stock from ebay. Put it all together and gave it to him, along with a full can of 5.56 from 1977 (in the cloth bandoliers of course). It was a gift for his 66th birthday. He was very pleased. I will see if he will let me take a few photos to post here.

Here is a stripped A1 upper that I picked up a while back. One day I will get around to building it out.

I like my retro guns with wood. I like my modern guns modern. The AR is both retro and modern depending on configuration, and I prefer my configuration as ergonomic as it can be.
