Bought 5000 WW type 41 "military" spec primers. A friend was telling me he had bought the type 41 CCI primers and lots of problems with click no bang.

Nope.
These primers have a bit more space between the cup and the anvil, so they are harder to ignite. Maybe you friends gun had an issue.

Poor primer seating and/or triggers with light springs would be my guess. I'd bet I do the former more than I realize and for sure have the latter, but not many primer issues, 41s or otherwise.

I never had a problem with these primers.
Like others have speculated on this thread most likely cause is light hammer spring. I would try these in a rifle with a “GI” trigger group. If you get a bang then it’s the gun, if no bang it’s the ammo.
Some pics of the primers in the cases maybe helpful as well in diagnosing the problem.

Never had a problem with 556 primers. With the CCI 34 I have. With hot 308 loads several of my BCGs will allow a hole to burn right through the primer. Load the same load with CCI 200 or wolf, no problem. My Aero BCGs are the only ones that work well with them. I just keep them to my typical 150/147 grain regular loads. Don't use them in my hot 168gr or 175gr long range loads.
