My old nikon finally died.
I'm seeing the new Vortex pocket-size ones, good out to 800.
I only shoot out to 5-550 yards usually. I like the small rangefinders for a quick read, don't want to go with a mildot optic.
Does anybody have a bad experience with the Vortex ? I can grab one of those for around 200 dollars.
Thanks !

Pay attention to the detailed distance ratings. White painted steel plate is different from a deer or cardboard or whatever. Not sure what your use case is.

Agreed; it's a lot easier to range a good reflector. I'm mostly just plugging paper targets.

I have the Ranger1500 which I think has been discontinued. Save a few $$ and get one of these refurbished.

I've bought plenty from them. They're gtg.
