I’ve always been a big fan of S&W Shield, as I normally would alternate between a 43 or a shield depending on which kool aid I was drinking at the time. I love Glocks, but after handling the S&W Shield Plus when compared to a 43X I was sold. The better trigger, more round capacity with factory mags (yes I know about Shield mags but I’m weird about aftermarket mags in a carry gun), being optics ready and with better sights for same price I’m getting a 43x for was what tipped me over.

Had already parted with my 43X earlier in the year and had been carrying a Shield 2.0. Didn’t want to take a huge loss on that, as I had just put Trijicon sights on it so I was trying to save up some money.

So happened that a coworker mentioned she was looking for a deal on a carry/home defense gun. Cut them a deal for all my mags, shield 2.0, and a holster that made both us happy.

Ordered the Shield Plus OR from a coworker who also has their FFL from Davis guns. Only gripe I have is that it only came with x2 10 round magazines instead of one 13 but gives me an excuse to go to Fuquay Gun to buy one.

Ordered a chpws plate to run a Holosun 407/507k but looking at other optics options.

Anyone else running the Shield Plus?

I have 2 Shield Plus, a standard 3.1” and 4” PC that I had cut for a 507K since I hate the idea of plates. Long story short I could never find a holster and carry method that I like that worked with the red dot, so I’m back to irons, but I love shooting my Shields.

As for mags, they also have the 15rd mags that were primarily marketed for the CSX but they’re the same. So I carry a 13 + spare 15.

Can’t really compare the a 43X since I only fired a few rounds through my friend’s but I was super impressed with the feel of the 43X compared to the blocky 19. I can’t stand a 19/17 grip shape.

Yep. I'm alternating between a Plus and G26.
I've got the OR version but haven't mounted an rds yet.
G26 gen 5 was what I was debating about buying initially and sending off to be optic cut but ultimately decided to go with Shield Plus instead. Don’t regret it so far

Hopefully picking up a 13 round magazine today

I've been looking at the Shield Plus Bug Out package. It comes with (3) extra 13rd mags, for a total of 5 mags ( 1 - 10rd & 4 - 13rd ). I have a couple extra AR'-15's that don't get shot. One is a black Ruger AR556 and the other one is a FDE Diamondback. I can get the Shield Plus Bug Out deal and maybe 200rds of 9mm for either of the AR's. What do you guys think ? Is that a good deal for me ?

The only holster company I use anymore for concealed carry is PJ holster. Got hooked on his stuff awhile back, and it’s truly awesome in my opinion. I’ll have to order another one to accommodate a red dot (which you have to specify when ordering) but for now rocking in a standard shield holster.

I really want to get an optic on this one and become more proficient with that so @Flipside1212 will quit calling me a fudd

G26 was my ride or die for the longest time, but have switched back to G19 for now.

43 was too small for me, had to use mag extensions to get it to work. By time I added them, was length of the now 43x so went with that for awhile. Definitely an improvement but having to buy better sights from get go and mags not holding more made me want to go something else.

I’d do it, but I’ve got plenty other ARs I could use. Honestly not a bad deal for what all your getting.

Have to ask yourself, are the ARs being used? Will the shield be carried?

I have the shield plus bug out bag combo you’re talking about, absolutely love it! Small, compact, optical ready, night sight’s already installed, accurate, reliable, easy decision for me….

I've had the bugout package since March of '22. Added a 407k. It's been a great carry gun, hasn't skipped a beat and I haven't been gentle.
I did break a baseplate on one of the 13rd mags. The plastic split right down the center of the front face. The 10rd mags are more durable and seem to be optimal as far as loading to capacity.

Just got my Shield + and just dry firing a couple times, really like the trigger. As long as it is acceptably accurate, it will be a keeper. Heading to the range this a.m. to break it in. Also have G43 and G19 gen5's and really like them for different reasons. THe gen 5's are more accurate than any previous gen Glock. The G43 fits in front or back pocket of jeans. For whatever its worth, G19 is the only gun my LGS is taking in trade or consignment right now. Continuous demand.

I'm currently looking into buying the Shield Plus OR to be my new daily carry. I'm more interested in the sights that it comes with over the white dots. Has anyone added optics? Or a light? Does anyone here carry it appendix?

I love a 1911 45 ACP handgun. This is all I have ever carried. For many years my favorite was an early Kimber Ultra, this gun followed along with me all over the world literally. It has been with me in Africa many times in the early days...........and now sports a set of Ivory grips that I had scrimshawed years ago..........

I retired the Kimber Ultra, and upped the grade to a couple of other Kimber Ultras both sporting very unique sets of Blue Stain Mammoth Ivory, a fine pair. I carried one or sometimes even both of these for again several more years........

And on top of these I have several pairs of fine 1911s of various sorts. There just is not anything that can match a fine 1911....... and certainly not this modern plastic crap.
Well, at least for something Classy at any rate..............

A few years ago @BatteryOaksBilly sent a S&W Shield over for me to play with, in 45 ACP..................... Now I despise a blocky glocky, yeah, they are a tool, they work, I tried a few, no thank you at all............

But, I had to say this S&W Shield felt pretty damn good, not only that, it shot great, and it would just feed anything you wanted to run through it? Hmmmmm.......

Of course PSA always had some sort of sale going, so I picked up a S&W Shield in 45 ACP, and while I was at it, just go ahead and get a 9mm Shield as well, this was the 8 shot version 9mm..............

Well once again, bang bang bang, magazine after magazine, feed/function 100%, zero issues, both shot to POA at 7 yards and shot damn well.......... Hmmmmmmm...........

I can assure you anything outside of center in this target is ON ME...... hence me signing off on my screw ups..................

The 9mm gun was just the same, shot to POA, feed anything I could throw in it, and neither gun needed any sighting in....... straight out the box, pour some oil in and go to work...........

Next time PSA put the 8 rd 9mm guns on sale, at $249.00 how can you go wrong, so I picked up a couple more....... once again, same story, no sight in, POA at 7, feed/function 100%............. and the next time they came on sale again, well I picked up a couple more........ I had one in all the trucks, and on standby all around the house.....

Then one day I saw "Shield Plus"....... hmmmm?? Probably too fat for my hands............ but I think I have to try one, well hell, why not just try two of them...... So I got two, and WOW...... they felt great, filled my hand even better than the 8 round guns, shot great, no sight in, POA at 7 and feed/function just like the other guns......... Hmmm? Wow, I really like these Plastic Pieces of crap..........I decided I needed a matching 45 ACP Shield, which had now replaced my Kimbers and other fine 1911s. Lots of times my gun is and stays in the trucks and sometimes as a second gun...... figured if one of these got stolen it could easy be replaced with another just like it....... not so much with some of the 1911s, some of those cannot be replaced.........

So I figured if I was getting another matching 45 ACP, I might as well pick up another Shield Plus while I was at it.......... and then some time later, another couple..... at at some point I decided to round things out to even numbers and got another one.......my son decided he needed one, so I gave him one, left me one short of even number, so last Saturday we were in Charleston and I picked up another one to make it even...... Damn, I got Shields every where,....... LOL............... Then My wife got in on the act, we are looking around one day at the shop, she sees an Earth Tone colored one, decides she needs one for her truck too............ HEH HEH..........

Yeah, My Shields have replaced completely my carry of 1911s....... Oh make no mistake, I still love the 1911s as always, but the Shields have replaced the 1911 as working guns. The gun you throw in your bag, your truck, one you keep in the table as you walk by, or in the bathroom when you are particularly vulnerable..................and if something happens to it, oh well, get another just like it and roll on.............. And to this day, every single one of them is the same...... POA/POI at 7 yards, feed/function 100% with all sorts of ammo, feel great in your hand and I cannot find a downside to any of them..........

Always been a shield fan, I tried the plus 30 SC and it wasn’t as comfortable to carry as my og shield! The grip texture was so rough, talon grips could have fixed it but I went to a P365X!

Appendix is only way I carry, PJ holsters is the brand I’ll rep. I haven’t added an optic yet, but I’m happy with just the night sights on there currently from factory.

Buddy throw a streamlight tlr6 on his and loves it.
