Seems like right around the same time we had the temp's in the high 90s with heat index just over 100, my girls have dropped their production dramatically. Used to get 7-9 eggs daily, now we're lucky to get more than 3.

I check the coop several times daily, so I don't think that yeller rat snake is still hanging around. And I don't leave eggs overnight in the coops either.
We do have 1 that is broody and has been for a few weeks, and 2 others that swapped that duty. But the girls that are still laying don't let the broody ones keep them off the nesting boxes.
Hmmm...

Tis the season. Mine are hit or miss, 4 eggs one day, 15 the next..
Broodies go in a dog crate up on blocks with no tray for 3 days too cool their butts down and break the cycle.

Yeah went from 18-20 a day from our 24 laying hens to maybe 12 a day. But I have 3x that many to start laying in fall after a spring chick buying spree.

Extra greens and wet food helps cool em off as well as keep apple cider vinegar in their water to boost immunity. Alot of people put ice in waterers I just provide alot of shade.
