Anyone seen a Savage Reneguage Competition or Security in the flesh?

Been scouring the local (and not so local) fun shops in Western NC looking for a Savage Reneguage Competiton or Security model to fondle. Held the field grade at a local shop and asked if they could get me a mag extension for it. A call to the Savage rep got a "not sure" response. Don't want to drop @$1200-$1600 on a gun without at least handling that particular model first. Also, I'd prefer to spend the money at a local shop (who may or may not take something I own on trade).

Been shotgun shopping myself and surprised that there's very little in stock anywhere.
What is in stock is the sub $600 mostly low end stuff.

Curious myself. For the $$ it better be darn good. Would like a dedicated optics mounted home defense setup. 1301 was on my short list or even the Mossberg JM.

But I’ve got an M2 with 2 spare bbls and way too many choke tubes - might be cheaper to just buy another M2 and sell the bbl it comes with. Even used.
