April 2024 50yd Rimfire Challenge (25yd now added)

Don't forget my Henry @25 yds. I think it was 325 points. I wish the trigger was a little better. I am spoiled by the triggers on the CZ'S. I may shoot the Henry @ 50 yds too.
This should be our up to date scores. Congratulations to @Eric F our first perfect score. Plenty of time to tie him. In the past I believe we counted hits on zeros to determine tie breaker. I feel we will need that as I see at least 2-3 shooters with perfect scores before we’re done.

Please let me know if I messed up your score. Very happy to have all these shooters with us. It makes it a lot more fun.
What about Base Class @ 50 yards. Is that a different Class?

Check out the 3/31 post. If you shoot base rifles at 50 yd, instead of 25 yd there is a 15 point bonus. Potentially getting 345 for a perfect target, center hits w/no mulligans. Shooting a perfect score at 50 yds with base class rifles will be a challenge, but it's not impossible.

Decided to try a few targets today, and test 4 different ammo selections for grouping ability, since I had time and the wind was better than last week.
I have no idea how to score these things, but I used my CZ457 with Burris XTR3Pro on 30x, and the pics will show the ammo used, since the box on the target is what was used for that particular target (once I find them to upload).
Rifle is a custom folder chassis from PDCCustom.com. Business owner built a nice folder, took a month or two to get it. Guy is a one-man shop, custom paint, custom chassis, but reasonable prices.
I was surprised when I shot 4 different ammo types, and only a couple made the cut. Group #1 and #2 didn’t disappoint, but they both shoot decent groups in my Winchester 52B Sporter already. I need to try my stock of RWS, Lapua, Eley Tenex and CCI just for fun.
This test sure took my mind off the AR’s for awhile.
Thanks for promoting this fun gun test. While only the Eley Contact and Federal Gold Medal High Velocity were used on the CFF targets, I’ll get the SK Match and especially the SK Flatnose on some fresh CFF targets, once my Inkjet ink arrives, and I can print more targets.
May the RAIN & the WIND go west for a few months😮‍💨

Looking forward to the upload of the targets. The SK Flatnose Target looks very promising.

The picture with a peek at one of the table legs is telling. There doesn't appear to be cross/diagonal bracing on the table legs at all. (the bottom picture in the stack)

Well, it is the cheapest range around 🤑. At $250/year, about half the cost of Coleman’s Creek or DPRC. Plus I have the lane to myself, no distractions or unsafe idiots spraying and praying 🥴
It is the Zoo City Armory range in Franklinville, all of 10 minutes from my house. What they lack in infrastructure, they make up for with privacy, lots of matches and being nice folks and easy to deal with.
For quality range time, DPRC is my choice. Private and has turning targets for Bullseye.
Metallic Silhouette out to a mile, I drive out to Coleman’s Creek $500/year, but a fabulous place to spend a day.
Plus, I won’t be winning any comps as little time as I spend on any one rifle. It is all I can do to be able to figure out the reticle on each of my different scopes. The Burris XTR3 on top of the CZ is highly under-rated.

Very good shooting. You hit every target. There is a 10 point bonus added if you hit all the targets and no mulligan is used. There is a 5 point bonus on each shot for hitting the center. 40 point targets become 45 points. 20 point targets become 25. if you are within the center line. You had quite a few. Amps 13 can check your scores. Looks like 300 on top target and 310 on bottom target. If you did that with only 12 shots then 10 points would be added to each score. Hope you get out there again.

Sounds like an OK place at a decent price. Would they mind if you brought some bracing, screws, and battery screwdriver and improved the bench (at no cost or effort to them)? It'd take 10-15 minutes.

BTW their website seems to be down and the facebook page doesn't seem to have a location available??

Go to Carolina Guns & Gear Franklinville.

They allow me to screw my Ransom Rest into the 50 yard bench, so likely wouldn't be a problem.

Had to go out and shoot a target or 2 today. The CZ 457 with Manners stock and Lilja barrel did not disappoint. Posted scores with picture of rifle.

That’s what I saw. good shooting @Amanda4461 and glad you decided to give it a go. Never shot with SK FN. have to check it out.

up to date scores. @Eric F and @fowlhntr with perfect score so far. In the past I believe we counted hits on zeros to determine tie breaker. Keep that in mind if you tie them or solidify more zeros if needed. I will be getting a perfect score this weekend (maybe 🤷‍♂️) so I gotta ask, will you?

Consistent shooting, I can see a run on SK Flat Nose ammo. I hadn't heard of it.

Glad to see 25yd category! Still push it with a 22 cal air rifle 😂

This is 25yd
Umarex gauntlet 2
Centerpoint scope
Crosman 14.3gr hollow points
Target hung w duct tape 😂
The stuff I circled is splatter since bottom of the target is outside of the trap. Looks like I didn’t circle all of the splatter but you can see the paper perfs are outward. Closeup on the 40s that are hard to see. Used mulligan on top left 40.

I have wanted to join this game for a while. No time to get to outdoor range, so had to shoot at local indoor range, 25yd. Bench freehand (no rest or bipod). Ruger American Rimfire, Simmons 22 Mag 3-9x32 and Armscor std vel 40g. 270 pts, if I scored it right.

I run the shooting sports program for our scout troop. I think this will be a great target game for the scouts, so I'm gonna steal it and take all the credit :)

Thanks for organizing this!

Anything that gets our youth shooting is a good thing!

We have had 17shooters so far this month. Great participation and love seeing everyone’s rigs.

Marlin model 60, cv life 3-9 scope at 25yd, I think it' scores a 320? Top left was on steel, pretty sure i got the top right of that oneView attachment 773170View attachment 773171
Good shooting! I hope you have something more stable than a life preserver to shoot off of. Or you getting ready for that boating accident we all have with our guns?

This was after the boat accident. I have the model 60 permanently attached to a life preserver to prevent another catastrophe. Lol.

Does a CZ452 American and a Ruger 77/22 fall into the base or open class? Both were under the 600 price when purchased new.

<>< Fish

Tried out the Ruger Precision at 50 yards today. This rifle has a few modifications. Not a perfect score, but I will try again soon. SK Ammo was ok, but I may try some Eley. Still looking for it's favorite.

Good looking rig. Except for the one shot all ones not inside the inner ring were high right at same place.

Amps 13 can verify, but the hope is we get more people out and enjoying the sport. The CZ 452 and Ruger 77/22 could be base or open, in my opinion. Try them both at 25 yards and post the scores as a base class. If you want to try them at 50 yards, then note it on the target. If you have a good scope and ammo, I would bet the CZ 452 would score well. Have fun!
