As of a few minutes ago, AR-15 was shut down. As in seemingly censored. Get ready people.....

Working just fine for me

I wish I had taken a picture. On my phone this site is working fine and never stopped. On my PC it would only display a weird page saying that the forum's security system shut down to protect itself.... or something like that. White page. Black text. Nothing else.

Edit. Here it is. Still doing it.

The error messages that start with 1xxx refer to connection problems on sites that use the Cloudflare proxy. One of them is the Error 1020 Access Denied. This indicates that you've violated a firewall rule and your request is blocked. ... They are a resource used to improve the performance of access to the website. Aug 26, 2020

If I google AR15.com, it pops right up. And, I'm on an Apple computer!

Working fine on my iPad,

Spectrum seems to be blocking it from their DNS servers.

Speculum is how I'm accessing it right now
Well, I couldn’t get to it until I changed to a DNS server that isn’t Scrotum or Gargle.

I still get it through Google on my Apple computer using my Spectrum internet service.

My understanding is that AR15.com is hosted by Go Daddy and Go Daddy has dropped them and they are using a "backup" or "mirror" site to stay up.
Getting issues with newsmax as well and with multiple other sites...

It’s not working on my iPhone (AT&T cellular, not Wi-Fi) on two different browsers.

Remember that GoDaddy started as a domain registrar, before getting into hosting, so that is likely still one of their core functions. They're playing games with the domain name ar15.com and the reason it is working intermittently or for some people is that the DNS takes a little while to propagate. Say for example, someone using the same DSN resolver, such as that of a major ISP, when there this morning and it cached the address with a 24 hour TTL (time to live). That means that anyone who queries the ISP's DNS will get the value for the next 24 hours after which it won't work.

The site has been moved to ar15-backup.com, as a few posts have said. There is a comment on that site that says that some people are getting there via the old URL but as the DNS updates that will break.

It's just another bold attack by a "leftist" corporation on something they don't like.

Snipershide.com is also "undergoing maintenance"

Next thing they will do is to block access to the fiber.

Is it just as simple as changing the dns entry or do you have to use their app?

You can just change your DNS on your router or your device. The app is to help people when traveling or when they are not able to control the hardware that provides the DNS.

Looks like the backup domain is registered by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epik_(company) , so that's not going anywhere. But yeah, on an AWS account, so I hope that's just temporary while they build up a bare metal server or find a better hoster.

What is this site you speak of, Arf.com? Not sure I want to try to access it right now with all this going on, but I'm curious about what it is.
It started out as a website for AR-15 fans. It, along with things like gunboards and thehighroad are some of the largest gun forums. By far, ar15.com is larger, and skews more in to the 'tacticool' range. Also, a lot of the manufacturers post there, to advertise.

you were ok, but you quoted a post that was attacking another member. A number of posts upstream got whacked.

Reminder to all. especially newer members, we are NOT ARFCom. play nice.

I will have more to share and working on a backup to get a domain working.

GoDaddy shut down the domain without cause. They said we are are allowing illegal activities here, which is not true. If you know anyone there, let them know they are an enemy of freedom and in violation of their own terms. Once we restore the site we will continue to discuss this situation.

I need to focus on what's happening to chat.

Feel free to spread the IP of the site as needed.

So a hobby that is enjoyed by millions of Americans, without ever posing a threat to anyone, has been forced to flee to the ugliest corners of the Internet, using a provider known for its sheltering of neo-Nazis and extremists.

Meanwhile, the real threat to America, the iron-fisted Stalinists. continue to Burn, Loot, and Murder without fear of recrimination.

Got mine swapped over, suggestions on a good secondary DNS?
