Where do you zero your AR pistol red dots? I have a 10.5 with sba3 and am thinking itll be a possible sd setup and truck or driving gun. 25 yards would probably do but any reason to zero differently?

Right now mine is at 50 yards because I want to do some longer range testing and see what my maximum effective rang is, but 25 makes sense to me. I guess it should somewhat depend on where you live and travel. If you are up in the mountains or in a town or city shorter shots might be the norm. If you live in farm country maybe you'll need more distance.

Same as the two other AR rifles. From close quarters what is it going to matter if it was a between the eye brow shot or landed at the top of the nose. The person is not getting back up. I want everything in a rifle simple and consistent unless it’s a bolt action fun range gun.

Mines at 50 right now too but going to put it at 25 next range session. I’m building a 12.5” that’ll be my truck gun and it’s going to be at 50.

My numbers are probably off, please correct if so.
With std sight height, sighting in at 38’ should be the same POI at 200 yards. Due to the round raising, then dropping through the aim point.
Those #’s will be different with a 10.5” barrel.

Mine is zeroed at 50 but I can ring the steel plate at 100 pretty easy.

I do it just like my other AR's: 200 yards.

50 yards for my AR pistol, since that's the distance I typically fire it at when I'm at the range. In an SD setup, it's going to be cqc for me, so I'm not worried if it's not dead-on at shorter ranges. :)

I zeroed my 300blk pistol at 50 yards since that is what I zero my 5.56 rifles at, so far I’ve only shot out to 100 yards but I have found that even with a 7 1/2” barrel the POA and POI is similar from point blank to 100 yards, I haven’t shot to 200 yet but I assume the caliber and barrel length will affect POI at that range.
