Jacob Paulsen of ConcealedCarry.com examined 283 total Active Shooter events from FBI data. Of that number, an armed citizen was present and engaged the active shooter in 33 incidents (11.7 percent).

It includes armed citizens who were near the event and not present at the actual event. In another incident, the victims were hunters ambushed by the killer. and not attempting to stop an attacker.
In the research by John Lott and the FBI, they didn’t consider the success rate of armed citizens and they didn’t consider opportunity, aka, gun-free zones.
Of all the active shooter events there were 33 at which an armed citizen was present. Of those, Armed Citizens were successful at stopping the Active shooter 75.8% of the time (25 incidents) and were successful in reducing the loss of life in an additional 18.2% (6) of incidents. In only 2 of the 33 incidents (6.1%) was the Armed Citizen(s) not helpful in any way in stopping the active shooter or reducing the loss of life, Paulsen found
In the 2 incidents at which the armed citizen “failed” to stop or slow the active shooter, one is the incident with the hunters. The other is an incident in which the CCWer was shot in the back in a Las Vegas Walmart when he failed to identify that there were 2 Active Shooters involved in the attack. He neglected to identify the one that shot him in the back while he was trying to ambush the other perpetrator, according to the study.

GUN-FREE ZONES
The study also considered non-gun-free zones compared with gun-free zones.
We also decided to look at the breakdown of events that took place in gun free zones and the relative death toll from events in gun free zones vs non-gun-free zones. Almost twice as many attacks took place in gun-free zones than non-gun-free zones.

Of the 33 incidents at which Armed Citizens were present, there were zero situations at which the Armed Citizen injured or killed an innocent person. It never happened, Paulsen says.

THE HOCKEY PUCK DEFENSE SYSTEM
The position of the left is to not allow citizens to use guns in self-defense. For example, a U.S. university in Detroit gave out hockey pucks to students and staff. They are being trained in how to use them.

Which do you find more logical in facing an active shooter? A hockey puck or a gun? Let’s get real.

The late, great Don Rickles would have something to say about this.

Wrist Rockets and bags of ball bearings.

I have enough hobbies and other work to take up my time. I just don't want to figure out how many hockey pucks I can legally carry. I don't get to the range enough for gun time. How can I possibly plan in puck throwing, site picture, breathing, etc? Can pucks be open carried or must I conceal them? Can these things be reloaded on a green, blue, or red machines? We most likely can't import them from Canada, being a weapon system and all. I wonder if they will be milspec. My head is starting to explode. Sorry to derail here I could help it.

Hockey puck........while im sure it hurts when struck with one......but you gotta be kidding me.

Let's get to the REAL problem. Hockey pucks are black. Therefore they are scary. I would only buy them if they had a nice wood grain finish.

Or FDE. 'Cause all legit defense systems are FDE.

Whoa whoa whoa... Why's it gotta be black pucks? I mean as long as they aren't white with crosses on them I suppose it's alright...

How about this one..?

Ready to go as soon as I get the training...

I’ve already got my Concealed Hockey Puck.

I did drill a few holes in a used hockey puck to help me drive out a few pins on a handgun.

Time for a CPF T-shirt? :D

I use one of these. Hard to beat when they put it on sale for $4 or $5.mm

Hmm... interesting. I have one of those de-pinning blocks from Midway, I think. What I don't like about it, is the plastic material seems slippery. Sometimes it's a juggling act between the block, the part, lining up the pin with a clearance hole, the punch... Trying to keep it all aligned and balanced just before you whack it with a hammer.

What I like about the HF chock, in addition to the price and softness of the rubber (won’t scratch or mar) is the flat, raised edge. This lets me rest the gun firmly. The rubber isn’t at all slippery. I think this thing is a better gunsmithing tool than most of the blocks specifically marketed as such.

Just to complete the thread derail, I use a roll of duct tape as my block lol. Always got one or two of those around somewhere

Put the roll of duct tape in a zipper bag and keep it in the kitchen sink cabinet, stays fresh as the day you bought it years later.
