TNG got me started, but DS9 was the first series I watched from episode 1, and it remains my favorite series if for no other reason than how well fleshed out even characters on the periphery were.
Nog was almost an afterthought when the show started, but by the end he was a complex and interesting character with the same depth as any other member of the main cast.
One of my favorite episodes is "It's Only A Paper Moon." Eisenberg's character Nog deals with ptsd after the loss of a limb in battle. Along with "In The Pale Moonlight", probably some of the best Trek ever written.
Shame we'll never see commander Nog or Captain Nog in any future Trek. Shame CBS has it's head up it's own backside pandering to demographics who don't even care about Star Trek.
I generally don't mourn when actors pass, but the whole DS9 crew feels like old freinds. Shame Eisenberg died so young.
