Been shooting Beman ICS Hunter 340 arrows and looking to upgrade. Need some recommendations. 65-70lb draw weight and 27” draw length. Here are the ones I already have.

When I got into archery a few years ago I picked a half dozen of these up at the local archery shop when they set me up with the bow. They shoot great, but definitely need more arrows. Not to mention I have lost a few over the years. Main use is hunting and obvious target practice to prep for hunting.

Also, what’s with these new smaller diameter arrows? Was at cabelas and that’s all I saw. I assume they shoot well. I suppose I’ll have to adjust sights for new arrows anyway whether or not they are same diameter or the newer smaller diameter.

If those shoot well stick with them, or find the closest current line to them. Small diameter arrows will require a new rest and a new tune, as would large diameter. I'm out of the loop on the fine details of what's new and improved.

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing. I didn’t find these exact ones but found some Beman ICS arrows at Dunham’s that were on sale. Bought them and now need to cut them down to correct length before trying them out. I’ll post a pic of them when I get back in town.

If you’re gonna stick with archery for a long time, buy a fletching jig, and an arrow saw. Arrow saws are cheap nowadays compared to 20 years ago. You can make exactly what you want, and tune them to the bow you’re shooting

Good recommendation. I had an idea of what to do but after watching a few videos on resizing arrows, adding inserts, etc, I definitely realized there are more appropriate tools for the job that will make my life much easier!

Carbon arrows are pretty specific on what they need when being cut. Otherwise you can destroy them or ruin the integrity of the shaft. I usually ordered pre cut shafts and parts. Most places will cut to length for free.

Yeah that’s what I discovered on the YouTube. May take them to my local archery shop to cut down to size. That’s how my first set of arrows were cut. Would have been nice to do it at home but may be better not to try this one out myself.

What rest are you currently using? Do you shoot fixed or mechanical broadheads?

Smaller diameter arrows are great and I don't go back to regular diameter sticks. Less wind drift, better penetration, and they're occasionally also more robust (depending on the wall thickness).

I shoot black eagle deep impacts with ethics archery outserts. You can go down a rabbit hole tuning and building arrows, but most off the shelf arrows will work sufficiently.

I shot ICS hunters for a while and they're definitely good arrows. I'd second your suggestion to take them somewhere, like first flight archery, to get them cut. It's super important that your arrows are cut square and doubly so if you're shooting fixed blade broadheads.

Are you shooting standard or overdraw?

Yep on letting a pro cut carbon shaft arrows. If/when those things come apart due to a bad insert it gets ugly.

Can’t really offer any opinions on carbon...

I still shoot 2117 aluminum shafts.

I’m a dinosaur...RAWRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

I use Lancaster Archery for arrow and component purchases: https://www.lancasterarchery.com/

Just use the spine chart for your chosen manufacturer to match up your draw length vs draw weight to select the correct spine. I seem to mostly be right on the line between arrow spines so I went down to 340.

I cut my length on an arrow saw at home, then use those quik-fletch thingies that you slide on and put into boiling water to shrink-fit.

They serve me well, seeing that I don't take shots past 30-35 yds.

I shoot both fixed and mechanical broadheads. I’ve been to first flight before it changed ownership. I bought my bow from them and they set me up with draw length and first set of arrows. It will be no problem to take it back to them to make the adjustments to these arrows. I def don’t wanna screw anything up. Plus I’ll need inserts put back in anyway.

I bought a bunch of arrows from these folks. Aluminum shaft.
If you know the spine, insert weights, tip weight and feather/vane type you can order customer arrows at a reasonable price.
Chief Jason recommended them to me.

Well dang. Within a minute of checking out that site it looks like they got the beman arrows I bought on sale at Dunham’s for a better deal! And I can have them cut to length. I’ll be checking this site more often in the future. Thanks.

Run out of baccer sticks? 😂

LOL....

Nah...just being me..a typical holdout.

My first “smart” phone was an Iphone4. Before that, I had a Motorola flip phone and carried that bitch for years...guess you could say I am a bit resistent to change.

When I went to switch phones and the gal helping me asked for my old phone, I laid that little yellow and black, rubber armored flip phone on the counter and she looked at it like it was a turd.
