Arsenal’s Bulgarian plant destroyed

Sounds like a single building was mostly destroyed, not the entire plant. RIP to those killed, but like refinery and other fuel/oil issues this might cause a temporary spike in prices but nothing long-term.

But who knows, maybe no impact. A lot of ammo (Global Ordnance brand) comes from that plant as well. I'm reading elsewhere that ammo and arms were not impacted - only "fireworks."

It mentioned in the article that they supply’s one munitions to Ukraine? Idk kind of hinted at Russian sabotage.

Bulgaria and a lot of other nations in that sphere of influence are sending munitions to Ukraine. Have been doing so for some time - it is one of the many reasons for supply shortages and price increases here stateside, due to their military contracts being more lucrative than American commercial contracts. Meanwhile, local officials in Bulgaria say this explosion has not slowed or otherwise impacted Arsenal's arms/ammo production.

Ukraine also used to have a well-known and successful ammo factory - Lugansk Cartridge Works, and even exported tons of commercial ammo to the U.S. It was destroyed years ago during the whole Crimea fiasco around 2014.

Well that’s good news it seems. Sorry to hear at least 3 died. I was just wondering if Kvar, etc were going to use it to raise prices even higher. Use it as a marketing ploy. I don’t think they are beneath it lol and some Arsenal folks will pay. I’d love another one but that 2 grand is tough for me to come off of. Especially when we have DigitalP putting out some good builds. It just sucks that a community has gone so haywire.

Read an article recently that detailed 'mysterious' explosions in munitions and weapons storage areas in the west over the past decade or so that intelligence agencies suspected Russia as the cause but could not prove it.

You are likely onto something.

I wouldn't put it past K-VAR to announce that magically, once again, Esau the night janitor happened to stumble upon a "lost" crate of guns, ((10)) mags, parts, ammo, or all of the above. And because it is such a customer-first company, K-VAR has decided to graciously post said wares on its website at even more inflated prices because reasons, vs. artificially bidding up its auctions on Gunbroker.

What a coincidence.

I think that is a pretty sound prediction. Let’s see how long it takes. I’ve already seen people posting asking whether their SAM is worth more money now 🤦‍♂️. Nothing like a false sense of scarcity in the gun community to skyrocket prices.

K-VAR is/was notorious for shill bidding on GunBroker. I haven't checked in a while, but it seemed way too many people bidding up on $1000+ rifles with only 1 or 2 previous transactions.

While I wouldn't automatically discount Russian involvement; I also read another article that is was the 4th explosion at that plant since 2018
Old Hercules powder plant in NJ went up too - it can happen working with nitroglycerin and nitrocellulose.
How's Bulgaria's OSHA standards ??
