Pretty sure my buddies dad hunted with one of those. Neat little rifle.

I had one with FTF issues, dumb enough at the time not to deal with it and traded it for my Savage MKII.

I really like my Savage but still feel like an idiot when I see mention of the .44 never mind the $$.

Does that "camp 9" rifle they have use the same receiver? I know it looks like one of those, but it has a magazine clip.

Camp 9 is a Marlin.

Those .44 / deerfield carbines are HIGH DOLLA now. Collectors items even.
Nowadays you can do similar or better power with a AR in say, .458 or .50 Beo and have 30 rounds.

that's right. I'm an idiot.
nah man. BTW the Marlin Camp 9 shared mags with the S&W 5900 series of pistols which used to be a plus. Same as the Ruger PC9 used the P85/9x series of mags.

A modern AR carbine puts all of these old school carbines to shame in the ergos and usability category IMO. And I'm not a fan of the PCC at all ;)

I was offered one of those for $300 not that long ago. I passed because it would be too expensive to shoot much.

Have had a M44 for a lot of years. Super fun gun to shoot and amazingly accurate. The old one like i have has a tubular magazine. The newer model, also discontinued had a rotary mag like the 10/22.

No, it’s not a 10/22. It’s a 44 Carbine, the design that fathered not only the 10/22, but Ruger’s entire line of rifles. Sturm, Ruger & Co. got its start making handguns, and was close behind Smith & Wesson when it added a .44 Magnum revolver to its lineup in 1956.

It's a great gun, a close older friend of mine has one that I used to shoot 25+ years ago, he knows it'll be mine some day.
You HAVE to use hollow/flat nosed rounds since they're in a tube magazine.

Have an older tube fed version as well, and all the men in my family have put down multiple deer with that rifle. It's a superb gun for thicket hunting.
