Asheville Gun Show Jan 7&8

I may be able to make it up Saturday just to look around and get out of the house. Anyone know if French Fryz made it through covid? It's been a few years since I've been there but I used to like hitting it after the show. Or may drive a bit more toward home and hit Hare and the Hound in Landrum.
 
Iā€™d be up to meet there. I donā€™t need anything in particular but you never know what you might find.
 
I should be able to slip away, Saturday early. Itā€™d be my 1st show here. I need some steel targets. Already built stands. Itā€™d be nice to some of you fine folk. Iā€™ll definitely visit cubrocks table if I make it.

Sure. He booted one of our own, Jerek (Backwoods Bang Shop) because his prices were too low and other vendors were complaining. Thatā€™s a crock-o-crap. A lot of the discussion was here:

I'll still go, looking for a few parts to finish another build and start 2 more. But I won't be happy about it
 
I figured that was the reason. I'd boycotted them myself for several years, but the death of the Greensboro and Charlotte shows made me cave. I usually go looking for used stuff or to sell what I'm carrying around.
 
Is this a Hickory/Winston kind of show or more toward Greensboro type show? If you carry items, can you sell or is this a walk and look show?

About the same size as Hickory. Better vendor selection, but nothing like Greensboro used to be.
 
No parts, I'll prolly pass on going then!
 
Table wise it sounds bigger than hickory or Winston. I have never been to this show and wonder if it pulls people out like Greensboro and Hickory or if it is too frequently held to do that.

There will probably be AR parts. I was talking about the old gun parts dealer who is usually there. Sorry for the confusion.

Personally I feel that he's a sack of s%!t. I watched him go around a new show that opened up in Columbia several years ago going from table to table to all the vendors going "you're banned from my shows, you've betrayed me!". I'd be willing to bet several of the vendors on here were caught up in it. And it wasn't like it was even on a day of one of his shows anywhere he just didn't want them selling anywhere but his show. He ended up getting thrown out of the show. He's just a slimey used car salesman douche bag of a human being. I've also seen him giving someone who wanted to rent a table to sell personal guns a hard time demanding to know "Why should I let someone like you sell at one of my shows, it reflects on me the quality of the people I have here". I can't prove it was because the guy wanting to rent the table was a younger black guy, but I talked to the guy after he got pissed and walked off from Mike, the guy sure thought that was the only reason. He's just a horrible person. I only go to any show of his for the vendors and to get out with friends and I prioritize pretty much any other show over his if I have to pick between them.
 
I guess for me I would go because of the vendors more over than who is putting the show on. I have no interaction with the promoter. I remember some being more of a glorified garage sale, and there is 1 that was actually pretty good. Hopefully it is this one. Either way I'm hoping to finally meet @cubrock ima head out about 9 or so. Be there about 10ish
 
Other than @Chihuahua Floyd being to uppity to say hello šŸ¤Ŗ, it was a decent show.

I walked away from a beautiful Rossi .357 carbine, really nice wood, and a 4ā€ 629 at a reasonable price. I must be getting responsible in my old age.

@cubrock was the only person I saw. Bought some hardware for another ar I'm building. Needed a buffer tube kit. Found that and he had a tube in blue also. He swapped the blue tube in the kit for me but removed the castle nut. So still can't install it. Didn't notice that till I got home

sorry i missed you. i was looking for CFF members but did not see you. not trying to be uppity. did you speak to me?
Found what i was looking for, now i get to see if building an AR is as much fun as you say.
buddy i picked up in Waynesville bought his first AR, a City of Asheville police trade in with carry handle upper and the good sight.
Cubrock was busy when i went by,

How did you miss @Tim ? Heā€™s like 7 feet tall.

Did you happen to see any A2 upper receivers for sale/sell/sail while you were there ?
