At a minimum, wear heavy Carhartt’s

If ANY member truly cannot afford proper safety chaps - I am willing to donate one pair of brand new chainsaw safety chaps. You will need to pick up in craven county.
I would like to help someone save themselves from injury. I have one extra pair brand new in the package
If you PM me tomorrow (Saturday) I will be at the ZSA Monthly 3 gun match with my daughter- we are both working the match as RSOs

I will not respond until later post match

I'm not figuring out the sizes of these things. I'm 6'2", also with 34" inseam. The "small" is 35", medium 37", and long 40". How can they not drag the ground?
Think of chaps like a “man” apron they don’t have to go all the way to the ground - most injuries occur between your thigh and just below your knee. This all depends on the length of bar. Right handed people damage their left leg far more frequently

A couple of years ago I had a chain jump the bar at full tilt. It came back and got me in the leg through the jeans I was wearing. I had dropped the tree across the way out so I washed it out best I could and taped a shop towel over it until I could clear the drive. I ended up with 12 stitches that day and bought a pair of chaps the next day. The chaps were cheaper than the stitches.

I live in the woods and know that the trees are out to kill us. I'm smart enough to know that I shouldn't own both ladders and chainsaws. But too stupid to think that I wasn't smart enough to pull down a dead branch with a grappling hook. Fortunately, I was hit in the face with the back end of the hook -- an inch lower or to the side and the hooks would've cut my throat and wife and kids would've found me dead in the yard. I cleaned off the blood and returned that 12" stainless steel death trap to Amazon. Gave it one star (wish I could give zero stars).

Now I have a beard to cover the scar. Never forget that trees are out to kill you.

Yeah, doesn’t make sense. All I know is my real world experience with them. They fit just right. My guess is it’s not the same as a pant measurement. The crotch is a little higher than normal pants.

@Flashpoint i just had the thought that they may be measuring from the top of the chaps (the belt) to the bottom of the leg.
