If I remember right, they only received 40K comments when they pulled this same stunt in December 2020 and that was enough for them to shelve it.

I'm pretty sure there's more to that story. There were a number of congressmen that signed a letter to help kill that. Yes, the same guys sent effectively the same letter again, but they still had the Whitehouse and a Senate majority at the time of the original letter. It would have been easy for the ATF to bide time already knowing the outcome of the election meant they simply had to wait a bit.

While I understand this comment is sarcasm, please refrain from making it. I'm in the market for a good used boat and you're driving the price up on me.
I’m coming out of retirement. Just bought a cordless drill and a good-sized hole saw bit. I’m thinking there’s gonna be big demand for my services. 🤓

1) most braced pistols are sbr
2)They do a free tax stamp and short amnesty for braced pistols. Like one previous sorta plan
3) They release a completely revamped e file system and tout it's effectiveness in easing the regulatory burden. Which will begin a new era of defacto weapon registration.

2 sticks and a poisoned carrot.

For existing weapons which would be considered short barreled rifles under the proposed rule, no provision will be made for grandfathering those weapons, and the ATF will not be waiving the $200 NFA tax stamp for anyone.

Of COURSE not.

Because they can change the rules and enact laws without legislation by representatives elected by the people.

This is what tyranny looks like.
