Guess it's my turn as I have an upcoming wedding in Austin. I have an idea on what CLT is like checking a firearm.

What about Austin (the California of the south)? Is that airport easy with a checked firearm?

Things to do in Austin, TX?

Headed to Austin this Sunday work a work conference. I’ve never been and was hoping some of y’all have and can recommend some places to go: food, beer, music, etc. Mostly evening stuff after the conference ends. Places to avoid. Staying downtown. Any input appreciated!

Flown in and out of Austin with rifles as well as a EDC and the airline’s employees nor TSA blinked an eye. The only problem I did had once was the 1 round from the chamber my EDC not being in a mag or ammo box … TSA regs. I stuffed it in with the rifle ammo and it was fine … stupid technicality.

In Houston once I did have a crazy TSA guy pick up my EDC and start looking … covering everyone standing at the counter but after that no problem.

The airlines are the ones that you'll deal with when checking a gun. It should be just as easy as Charlotte.

Flew out of Austin with a pistol about a year ago, was probably the easiest experience I’ve ever had flying with a gun.
