Last couple of days at work have been a bear.

I'm looking down in my diet coke ( I know) and I tell a couple of people that something is missing.

I work in SC so getting a couple of mini bottles is no problem.

Any folks keep any in a BOB?

Are you kidding? That's the only thing in my BOB! By the time I wake up tje Apocalypse should be over :D

In all seriousness, no I dont. They dont do anything more than my current antiseptic stuff thats in there except tempt me to drink them. And, if Im actually having to use that bag, I probably need my mind as sharp as it can be.
They might be useful when I reach my destination, though ;)

No but some decent high proof white would work for antiseptic, calming agent, and fire starter. Gon add a 16oz bottle to my little bob.

Problem with air plane size bottles is the seal isnt for s#it and over time, like a year, they can evaporate. I had a freebie airplane bottle of some brand of vodka that came attached to a brand of tequila that I bought and just sitting in my liquor cabinet in the kitchen it evaporated by half in a year.

yep i keep a grab bag of minis and a few half pints in the trunk.... BOB,GHB &EDC all have bourbon&vodka in them.

Just FYI...legally or illegally Brunswick county NC closed all the liquor stores and forbade any retail outlet from selling wine and beer after Floyd or Fran, i forget which. Having a stash in case of emergency is always a good idea.

oh yeah...keep 6-8 black label Jack Daniels mini`s in the bag, more for day to day "emergencies" that actually to get me home.

I usually keep 3 -4 vodka mini`s too, they can be used to barter with if needed, especially with the younger crowd.

Since my BOB stays in the jeep 24/7, the stock gets rotated when I remember it on hiking/fishing/hunting trips, lol.

You drunks have talked me Into keeping some airplane bottles in my bag. Thanks

I agree with Draco -In a SHTF situation, with everything turned upside down and constantly changing, all senses need to be sharp and constantly in use to survive. MAYBE - one for pain management ( but even that would not be a good idea because of bleeding ). The time for a drink is when you are in a safe location. I would not want to have to deal with slowed response time and impaired judgement in such a scenario. SHTF is talked about a lot, but is no joke. Prep wisely, act responsibly and stay alive to fight another day.

I didn't mean to close the thread down.:( Was this a drinking thread or BOB thread? Heck, I like a drink as good as the next guy -just my 2 cents on BOBs and SHTF situations. Time and place for everything.

lol...I don`t plan to get hammered and bug out....

We had a discussion on this on FALfiles a while back. Liquor stores will be looted first by the natives, most likely while those of us so prepared will be "un-assing the AO". Alcohol can and most likely will be used as trade bait after SHTF, when the $1000 in US currency stuffed in one`s stockpiles won`t even buy a bottle of water...

Should one desire a toddy once in a while, it would be best to make plans beforehand or learn to make your own ;) ....

IMO the only good reason to have booze in your bag is for trade. A case or two in a house would make sense for use or trade, but if you need to carry it around for s length of time it better be worth it.

Good for trade, a gift to help build relations, a small amount to calm a m*therf%cker down who is absolutely loosing his sh!t, slip some into a drink for gathering intel, ect, ect.

But getting hammered is not anywhere on my task list if the SHTF.

There are other substances that can be just as if not more beneficial and less harmful than alcohol. But I can't buy those at a store here in NC.

"Any folks keep any in a BOB?"...no but i keep some in my car. it's an old habit.
i used to street park in various downtowns. i'd give a bottle to a bum and tell him:
"if my car is alright when i come back, you'll get another." it worked every time.
once, in Norfolk, VA, i didn't do that. smash and grab. he smashed the front
passenger window and grabbed my "office supplies" briefcase full of pens,
pencils, paper clips, Scotch tape, etc.... also, cigarettes work just as well.

For trade, yes. For BOB, takes space away for more necessary items.
