Is there a SAMMI rifle cartridge that duplicates the .17 HMR that I can reload?

It would be in a bolt gun, so high volume isn't a concern.
I bet seating that little boolit is a trick.

I have so far, shunned the .17 craze because of cost, availability and non reloadability.
I would like to have a .17 cal in a higher quality action like a Tikka.

So not a rimfire, but you want the crappy ballistics?

.17 fireball maybe? But it's more kin to a hot 22-250

I was at my uncles this weekend and he showed me a hot little shell in .204 iirc. That thing look like it was something awesome. He said he shot a deer in the front shoulder and ruined the entire shoulder.

Say the hell with .17 altogether and get ya a .204 Ruger. Bullets are a little easier to seat though most times I used tweezers to set the bullet on the case

Damn. Great minds.

A .204 will turn a rabbit into a few bits of hair. Don’t shoot anything with it you plan on eating

Man I hope I get to shoot it next time. He said they took a deer down with a neck shot at 200 yards. He has all but one caliber in the browning Belgium bar series and can't find it in .308 around him. He also has a Leupold mounted on everyone of them. He told me he had 4 36 gun safes. He's a real collector.

I had a Remington .17 Fireball back in the early 70's but only had factory ammo available (it was so new there were no dies or components available) and then not a steady supply. I shot 2 groundhogs and it was destructive to say the least, but fun if you knew what you were having for dinner beforehand, not a problem. It was a novelty and that's about all you could say for it.
I was at the range one day and felt sorry for a guy that showed interest and let him hold it, permanently......

17 HMR is a great little round. Flat as a laser beam out to about 125 yrds . I've wondered the same about a CF version.
