I'm looking to get a complete upper. I've narrowed it down to either the 11.5 bcm with qrf rail or the Daniel defense mk18. If you have any input it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I have 2 DD complete rifles, which I love, but I wouldn't blink going with either. There is no "better" choice amongst your two options in my opinion.

I have a complete BCM Carbine and I built my nephew a complete BCM midlength earlier this year and the quality is imo top notch, but as it was already said you really can’t go wrong between DD or BCM, if I were in your position I would honestly make my decision based on which upper I think looks the best to me, the function of either brand will imo be flawless with either.

I have owned both and without a doubt I would choose BCM. Both of the last two DD , the V7 and V11 were gorgeous rifles. Both had canted gas blocks. One was almost touching the handguard. It actually had gas issues and cycled well unless you ran PMC or other lighter loads in it. The M4V1 I had first was a wonderful rifle.

Daniel Defense is a great company, but as a dealer, the last few that I have seen weren’t up to the price. Take it with a grain of salt as it is just my opinion.

I have a DD and love it, but I wouldn’t have hesitated to get a BCM either.

Either will serve you well I am partial to BCM because that is what I have the most experience with. My BCMs run 100% and have every confidence in them.

BCM makes great stuff. DD makes great stuff that costs significantly more.

Get the one you WANT. I'd have no problem with Sionics based on rep but I've never owned or used their stuff.

Personally, I'd go BCM

Bcm here. Never had a dd but shot a few of my buddies and they were pretty sweet. I’ve had several bcm rifles and have never been disappointed. But like people have said before me just get what you like. If you don’t and you’re anything like me you’ll be buying again later.

Anderson. Why pay for quality when you can buy the cheapest and then defend it like it’s personal.

I’d buy an aero precision before I bought either dd or BCM.
Spend the money left in trigger, ammo, or optic.

This actually holds a lot more merit present day than I believe it did in the past. Not because Aero got better, but because people have tested the BA barrels and we know the Aero recievers are quality. I actually have the same number of Aero complete uppers as I do BCM and Colt (2 each).

BCM was the best value and performance when I bought mine in 2009. That's when they did the "buy the upper get the BCG and CH free" promo a couple of times a year. I don't think they've done that in easily 5 years that I am aware.

I bought 2 BCM uppers during those deals, making 3 total at the time. I only have one of those factory uppers left. Using BA or rainer barrels with Aero precision components. All have ran flawless with anything I feed them.

You can’t go wrong either way. But The premium prices of BCM and DD only get you a warranty. I prefer to use the extra money to build a more accurate rifle.

Agreed, but I know BA wasn't known at the time, I don't know about Rainier. I feel like BCM is what you buy to run carbine classes and shoot 10,000 rounds through a year. Otherwise, lots of other value purchases out there.

Yeah those were good deals. Nothing wrong with BCM. But prices have seemed to go up.
But I’ve just been unimpressed with the products I’ve used by them. Basic milspec stuff. Nothing wrong with it. But the barrel I had was a turd. And I’ve seen other turds. BCG was no better than an Aero and 50% more.

Some folks love their stuff and that’s cool. Arfcom can’t stop talking about them.
I just think the same quality can be had for cheaper on a lot of cases. Just my opinion!

Thanks for all the info. I ended up getting the dd. Found one with bcg for the same price as the bcm without one.

I am sure it will serve you well. Have/had both, qualitatively very little differences. But for the length you wanted, if I had the money, I would get the MK18. It's one of the only DD uppers that the mil still uses.
