TItle says it - we just arrived a while ago at a very beautiful and LARGE (seven bedroom) home at Holden Beach.
EVERY in-law will be here. Not everyone here yet, but they coming.
Some here now

To add:
I brought two bags. My backpack which has some college work, a book, my chargers and laptop. Then a carryon size which has enough underwear to poop myself a few times and still be ok on extra undies. Similar applies to tees. Two hoodies in there, jeans, two shorts etc. All packed nice and neat in a SMALL suitcase.

My wife has four bags. Plus the snack basket.

Her sister. Jesus Christ I was amazed. Cousin - same.
What the heck yall expecting to do down here?

We're down for four days, some are down for 6.

More will arrive tonight, more on Monday.
But on Monday night/Tuesday morning every family member will be here. Then we're heading out.
 
It will be a good time! ;) The good news is that (hopefully) they won't be going home with you.
What bottle did you bring to "drank" along the way?
 
So, some positives.
House is awesome. Huge, very nice inside. At the VERY end of the beach...literally the last house on this end of the beach/island. It's nice, man. But the wind is atrocious today. As I type I can here the gusts against the window.

FIL hauled our bikes down here. It's quite flat with a coffee shop (one of the few 'places' on the island) about 6 miles away. I think I'll go there shortly. Maybe.

It's dang windy, but I need to get out.
Put a hoodie on, I'll grab a hat or beanie and take a trek while the wife, SIL, and cousin are scouring for shells and teeth on the beach.
MIL, FIL, and SIL's daughter (7) just arrived, as well as some others.
I think Im getting out with some tunes.

Weather is MUCH better today, still windy, but nothing like yesterday.

Free place to stay, many free meals - when we did a run to the store I picked up about a hundred bucks worth of food. That's a bargain considering.

In Laws are super wonderful folks, but it's just different, you know?

Also, being around a 7 year old (that's not mine) for a long period of time is soul crushingly annoying at times

Alright, lets discuss bathrooms.
There are 7 bedrooms. SIX of the seven have bathrooms in them
Guess who DOESNT have a bathroom in their room
To be fair, we're staying the shortest amount of time, whatever
but the toilet is a communal toilet, so no poopie yet
YET.
 
Couldn't do it. You are a Saint. Nice warm weather however. When I was a little kid 60yrs ago, we used to do the 3 generation thing at the beach. Funny how when all 3 generations got just a little older, those weeks at the beach didn't happen anymore.

Ride down to Sunset Beach, park as far South as you can and walk to the Kindred Spirits Mailbox at the almost end of the beach. MAKE sure you leave a message in the mailbox, also MAKE sure you use complete sentences.
 
Everyone is so dang nice, I cant state that enough.
But everyone has quirks.
Me too. Wait, I mean, #metoo, right?

Right now the only three guys - me, FIL, and an uncle - are in one of the rooms watching the Duke/NCState basketball game
It's really nice, actually.
Maybe it's just all the women the create the issues ha

Before my grandmother died in 2022 we did four generations a couple of times. It was quite a week but not that many people. One little one and one nonagenarian.

They're pretty annoying when they're yours too.

whole Famdamily.
except....
it was in the summer,
and all of our clothes for the week
fit in two Food Lion Paper bags.
house had a washer and dryer.

Oh there's a washer and dryer here and people are already using it. Yet, again ,there are a billion bags in this place at the moment

I donā€™t do vacations with in laws. Could be one of the reasons I have several exā€™s but I still have a little sanity and have never strangled anyone

Gosh I really ought to try this. I dread going over to my parents for a family function. My brotherā€™s daughter is an uncontrollable brat. She yells and screams until she gets her way. But at the same time I feel really bad for her. By brother is a recovering druggie(at least I hope recovering, too soon to tell) and my SIL does not discipline at all. She has a horrible home life and has never had normal. Her oldest brother has turn out to be a really sweet kid. Maybe thereā€™s hope.
 
I have no siblings, dad is gone, mom in hospice.
Wifeā€™s mom, dad, and only sibling are gone.
BILā€™s surviving wife apparently doesnā€™t consider us to be family. Broke my 2 kidsā€™ hearts when she didnā€™t come over for Christmas dinner.
I know being around that much family can be a pain. Not having family is a pain too.
Enjoy what you can. Before you know it, those people wonā€™t be around anymore.
 
Yep. We're so damn old almost no family left. All the parents are gone. Now siblings are dying off. My mother went to the beach every year till she died at 87. Inlaws didnt travel anywhere for years. Home bodies.

Overall a good trip, just different.

Hit a BAD traffic jam today - at one point the car was off for about thirty minutes. Many, including us, just got out and stretched and walked around some. Highway was stopped for miles
