Nope. Not for me. Getting the proper thumb alignment during stress is a potential problem and as mentioned, electronic and mechanical failure.
 
I have one and sometimes takes 5 or 6 tries to get it open...other times opens first time. I definitely don't keep my home defense gun in it.
 
I have a Vaultek that can have 15 different fingers programmed in it. 8 of those are my "magic" finger scanned at various angles until I could get 100% reliability. It is my nightstand safe but I still practice opening it by code and finger religiously.
 
I also don't trust electronic locks either but this one has a dual power supply which I think is an absolute necessity. Certainly better than battery powered only.
