So, I’m passing by and cruise thru the lot to see whether there’s anything there. Among the few new Fords is a Courtesy Car Edge for sale. Hanging from the mirror is a large tag showing it “was” $40k something and is “now” $36k something.

The window sticker is still attached showing it’s full (NIB) price is well under the “now” price.

No thanks Crossroads Ford.

These guys are. But for used????? 😳
It's that stupid right now. A couple of coworkers of mine have traded in their low mileage (2 years old or so) vehicles for what they paid new. One of them walked away after trade in with a NICER NEW truck with a SMALLER payment.

It doesn't make any sense to me either.

Crossroads in Wake Forest is asking $5k over what Capital Ford wants for the same truck (both would have to order).

Salesman asked if I was a serious buyer. I answered yes, if he matches Capital Ford which is a few miles down the road. If not, I’m not going to buy from them. No response yet…

They may get it from someone else but not me.

A coworker recently picked up a new Bronco he ordered when they first opened up online ordering in early 2020 I think. The dealership offered him $8000 over his contract price of MSRP to not pick it up. When he declined, they said they would have sold it for at least $16k over list price.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly how they’re doing it, the payment game. It’s easy to move numbers around, so if a payment is your measure of “cost”, the dealers will make their money easily.

I bought my new Tacoma for 12% off sticker. Today everything is full sticker or +$5k, so selling it back for what I paid only to buy a new one at msrp would effectively mean paying 12% premium for a newer model year.

Car prices are wild right now, it's ridiculous

Capital. I agreed not to leave a negative review, but I wouldn’t buy from any of the Capital dealerships again.

Shoot me a PM with your story. Dude was pretty honest with me, but I’m interested to learn more…

I came in here in hopes my cousin Benjamin Dover III finally accomplished his dream of owning a car dealership. Reckon he is still running the house of ill repute and running it by hand til he gets a few good women. Thread title is misleading. Us Dover's have worked hard and still get no respect I tell ya!

Dodge, now Ford
What is it about Kernersville dealers???

Fingers crossed my 95 Tacoma don't crap the bed anytime soon.

Just business. Supply and demand. They can do this because they are dealing with “ I want it right now” Generation. Don’t blame the dealers. Capitalism at its best .

the government stepping in and shutting everything down, thereby destroying supply chains, is not capitalism at it's best
