Benchmade Knife Company destroying firearms.

Yep. Was considering buying one of their expensive skinning knives for an Elk hunting trip. Guess I'll choose another company, like Buck knives.
Their PR dept will earn their money in the next 72hrs.

... they are locate in Democrat stronghold and probably believe that it’s better to have a seat at the table than to give to candidates that generally can’t win.

Aiding and abetting the enemy is aiding and abetting the enemy.

Im far more irritated with their political contributions than I am to them cutting two guns up. I have seen Bubba do far more damage to perfectly good firearms than this. Bad PR move for sure, but if it weren't for the police mentioning it no one would know. So it isn't like they were trying to make a public statement on firearm ownership.

That's just a nice wingmaster without the barrel or magazine cap on it. It hasn't been cut yet. I'm kind of tearing up here just thinking about it... *sniff*

That doesn't make it better, it makes it worse. I am sure there's more than 2 guns that got cut up, and I'm sure this is not the first time they've helped out.
Turns out there wasn't a court order to destroy them, it's just a local lib police chief's policy, and he has a history of doing things like this publicly. BM should have politely declined the offer to help in this situation.
Totally with you on the political contributions. Funny thing is - once all the guns are gone, they'll go after knives. Take a look at London where you literally can't carry a butter knife in the street.

Shame the yellow cup is in the way - as they are not dismantling them, they're destroying them my thought was they just lopped the barrel off with a chopsaw but didn't complete through the mag tube, but I guess it does look more like the barrel was removed rather than chopped.

What a bunch of ass kissers Benchmark turned out to be.
They may be located in the middle of Liberaltown.
But if they are truly pro 2A as they state then what is keeping them from relocating to a more gun friendly state?
Seems to me that several gun companies have done that.
They stay then they will have to fit in. It appears that they are doing a fine job of just that.
So they destroyed the guns for free I'm betting.
Never had one of their products and I guess this makes the decision for me that I never will.

Nope, barrel is being cut in the picture to the left.

CD

They must be taking a pummeling on FB - they have turned off their Ratings and Reviews:

Recommendations must be related to service offered? Looks like chopping up firearms is indeed a service that is offered.

So why the need to clean up comments left on their page?

While your father is undoubtedly correct, perhaps ask him if he meant that you should never try to be fair in your consideration of issues.

Your threshold for aiding and abetting is awfully low, but well aligned with the fine folks at ar15.com

I love how this completely fails to address the issue. We don't care what Benchmade thinks of law enforcement (they're clearly suckups). We care what we think about gun rights, and they clearly threw that in the trash. I will not buy a Benchmade now, for sure.

Benchmade's response is rubbish and only adds fuel to the fire. They could have done a much better job than that, especially if they truly are 2A supporters.
Hell, if they are not, just say so. That way we don't have any misconceptions or unfair expectations and we can all move on happily.

FTFY

It's spreading like wild fire on gun forums and social media, wildlife and hunting groups, prepper sites, the whole nine.

It's even a topic of conversation at local gun counters.

Sounds like the bar is pretty much universally aligned within the community.

Any gun shops dumping stock yet? Seems to me a large percentage of knives are sold in them...

I like that the special equipment needed was a grinder and a torch/ plasma cutter. Used on a flat bench. With several cardboard boxes a foot away...... Which I presume hold more firearms..

The quick delete of the post is the most annoying part. Wonder if it was the safety issues in a place of business, or.....

Had one of their fixed blade knives that I never used and traded away. It was meh.

This occurrence helps ensure I won't be tempted again...

Cowards.

Hypothetically - how do they fix this now that so much damage has been done? We have seen many companies self-immolate like this; is the only "cure" to not be stupid in the first place? Just wondering (I can't afford these products anyway).

Yes........the only cure is not to be a jackboot-licking, socialist poseur supporter of any part of the constitution.
BTW........I just stabbed a bunch of Benchmade knives into my Yeti cooler full of Fireclean and Froglube and CSC hats and set that SOB on fire!

fireclean also known as wesson oil also known as snake oil sold by a saleman named Lawrence Vickers.
I was given 1/2 a bottle from a friend that had used it exclusively in the sand box for 6mo using suppressed 10.5" 5.56, blowing open doors nightly. Said he and the team were quite pleased and the carbon was much easier to clean.
I don't care if it's plant or petroleum based, just that it works.
Froglube caused FTF on my and another friend's AR in cold weather.

Save some money and go to Aldi and get you a quart for a dollar and a half. It's chemically exactly the same as vegetable oil. And Froglube is coconut oil with green coloring.
