So I am interested in doing some benchrest rimfire competitions in the near future. I think it would be fun and would really like to go with someone who has done them before to show me the ropes so I don’t make a complete fool of myself (besides my lousy shooting).
I have not not had much luck in finding close by events. I am hoping to pick up a new rifle on Friday and will ask them about competitions but figured I would ask here too.
What say you?

Riverside Gun Club off Hiway 49 south of Salisbury. First Saturday of every month. They shoot indoors in an old chicken house. 11 concrete benches. 50 yd targets. Not sure how many shots for record. 50 at least. Target looks like NRA buff and green 50 yd rimfire target. There is a Match rifle class, vintage and stock. Any kind of front rest is allowed. Sand bag rear like Protektor or Edgewood. Other rules all on Riverside web site. Rockingham County Gun Club up near Reidsville shoots 50yd BR rimfire as well. Not sure which Saturday of the month and rules but its on their website as well. Never shot rimfire BR but I shoot center fire BR all the time. You need a good trigger which usually means after market. You need ammo that is VERY ACCURATE in your gun. You need probably 24X minimum scope zoom. Good luck and have fun. Grew up in Jamestown. Went to jr hi and hi skool there at Ragsdale. Class of 77.

Thank you! My daughter graduated from ragsdale

Happiest day of my life was my last day there. Did a cartwheel in the parking lot going to my (borrowed mother's🙁 ) car. Hope your daughter had a much better high school experience than I did. The principal when I was there was a tobacco chewing greaser red neck XXXX (redacted on advice of my attorney). I had a much better college life experience at NCSU.

I just bought a Kidd trigger for my heavy bbl target 10/22. Playing around with ammo's now trying to find the most accurate and affordable. I will get around to shooting a rimfire BR match this year.

Hers was better till Covid messed up her senior year festivities and graduation. All I cared about was she got good enough grades that she got a good scholarship.
If you ever do and want company hit me up.
