I’ve 95% decided to get a 1301 Tactical but I’m on the fence on the Langdon Tactical model or OEM + mod as/if I please.

The LTT is about +$350 for a Magpul stock (150), Magpul handguard (200), and a mild trigger job. I like the Magpul items but they’re not a “must have” for me, and I could always add them later myself if I choose. I’m not a trigger snob but I definitely wouldn’t mind a nicer trigger in almost any gun.

I haven’t read a single bad thing about the LTT, but also not much negative about non-gen1 1301’s. I like that the new gen3’s are 922r compliant, since that’s one less stupid law to worry about.

What do you guys think? LTT or OEM?

If money were not an issue. I would go with the LTT. They are a very nice shotgun. However, you have a valid argument regarding the Magpul stocks. You could get them down the road if you decided. And in case you don’t like it, I don’t know if the LTT would help with the resale value.

Count me in on this same boat, I had a gen 1 1301 tactical and sold it because I needed quick cash. The 1301 has proven itself by now and I’d like to have it back and am considering the LTT model. It’s still about as much as a benelli m4 and needs no additions (referencing the model with the side saddle, magpul furniture, and rmr mount.

I was looking at both until the A300 Ultima Patrol was announced, so im waiting to check one out. I've read that they are shipping to dealers now.
I did see the A300 Patrol, looks nice for under $1k, but I believe it uses a different operating system, not the Blink.

A friend has an M4 and I really like it but I’ve read many owners of both say they’d take the 1301 if they had to choose 1. The only things I know I want are a red dot and side saddle, but undecided on RMR or Aimpoint micro type.

Yeah, the 1301 has the blink gas system like the A400.
The A300 Ultima Patrol has the same A300 gas system, which came from the legendary 391 / 390 / 300 series gas system.

Would love to have either. Can't say I would be disappointed with either. I have only ever had the Nelli M4's. I would like the chance to do a side by side.

I have a 1301 Tactical and recommend it highly. In retrospect I should have gone with the Langdon tactical as you will end up updating the rail to get the optic lower and the Magpul hand guard for m-loc mounting anywat and the Langdon is cheaper in the end.

I have the tactical with the pistol grip, I don’t really shoot it that much to see the need for the Langdon upgrades
But I’m more of a rifle guy than a shotgun guy 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cost isn’t my primary concern, but I am always looking for the best value, whether it’s a $500 purchase or $2500 purchase.

As I look into the cost of each a little closer the LTT actually looks like the better buy unless you absolutely don’t want the Magpul upgrades. LTT’s come with the stock parts too so you could buy it and sell the extra items you don’t want.

1301 Tactical 1405
GG&G RMR mount 130
Magpul stock 160
Magpul handguard 200
Total: $1895

Vs

1301 LTT w GG&G RMR mount 1750
Incl trigger job
Total $1750

Now to get on the waiting list for LTT.

You will not be disappointed with your decision!

Well, I yolo'd and ordered a Langdon Tactical with all the bells and whistles during the 3 hours or so they were available on the website. That was earlier this week. I got this email not long after I placed my order:

1676868629963.png

Mine will be black because I wasn't going to spend an extra $250 or whatever it was to get cerakote done on it. And wait 6-8 weeks longer. I've got a first rate cerakote guy. He's a pro. Figure we'll throw the parts in the oven and then go fishing for a while. It'll work out.

Not sure when I'll actually get the thing. I suspect I was one of the first orders placed because I just so happened to be checking their website when they popped up. I got the in stock email a couple hours later. So...fingers crossed.

@thrillhill this is mostly your dang fault for costing me so much money on a "tactical" shotgun. @Average Joe you didn't help much either. I swear, with friends like these...

Now I get to dig around in the closets and find things to trade/sell for shotgun shells.

I was on the wait list for the LTT for a few weeks, I happened to check the site around 10p last night and they were in stock! I got my in stock notification at 1230a, checked the site at 630a and they were OOS. Glad I placed my order when I did!

I ordered the black with RMR mount. I have a spare Riton PRD that I’ll throw on for now but plan on getting a 508T. I’ll also order some Esstac shell cards rather than using a rigid side saddle.

Can’t wait to receive it and get some rounds through it! I plan to have it replace my 870 as my primary HD shotgun.

I’m really happy with mine though I have not shot it yet. That’s okay though because I’ve shot one owned by a friend.

I’m in the mode where I’m acquiring all the buckshot I can find/afford.

The GG&G shell carrier is TIGHT. And man I mean super duper tight. A wrassling match ensures when trying to get shells out of it. They say it loosens up over time and you’ve got to mess with it. I’ve left shells in it for a week and it’s still nuts.

Received emails from LTT. They sent them at 12:30 AM. Really? Of course, they were sold by the time I checked my email around 7:00. Back on the wait again 🤷🏼

Ok so I shot the 1301.

When I ordered it I was t super excited. It was kind of a “need a shotgun for defense otherwise I can’t call myself a proper redneck”.

Well I checked the heck out of that box.

It’s amazing. The more I mess around with it the more I like it.

A package from Esstac arrived today. So much for that shell carrier. It’s super fancy but I’m going with the cards.

Because reasons.

If you fellas order from LTT, use code LTT23LEM for 10% off. My LTT 1301 tactical should be here next week.
Well nowwwww you tell me 🙄 😄

Mine is due in next week as well. Definitely planning on hitting the range next weekend. My friend has an M4 so I plan on doing a quick side by side at some point. Hopefully my Esstac cards show up from Midwest Armor next week as well.

The only open item for me is how to best mount a TLR-1HL. Im leaning toward a Magpul offset Mlok mount.

In stock, anyone know if these have trigger work? It is not explicit like on the Langdon site.
https://firearmsdepot.com/langdon-tactical-1301-gen-3-w-rmr-mount-and-side-saddle/

Something is up with that ad. That’s not an Aridus shell holder. It’s GG&G. Also they don’t come with the Aridus RMR optic mount anymore. It’s also GG&G. Same with the stock adapter. It clearly shows the sling attachment too.

So I’m not sure if the pic is wrong or the description is. Maybe they just used the old description.

Good eye. Seems like they forgot to update the description for the Gen3 changes.

I reached out they say it is the current LTT model.

Honestly, if what is in the picture is what you get, then it ain't a horrible deal. You're paying $96 additional for an in stock option rather than have to catch the LTT website when they are released.

Probably worth that to avoid the aggravation.

To be honest, I wasn't all that excited when I placed my order. Mainly did it cause Bill shamed me into getting a defense shotgun cause I can't be a proper redneck without one. Or something like that.

Now that I've shot it a few times, it just keeps growing on me. I've taken the shell carrier off and am now running the shotgun cards. Seems to work okay. Single shell loading is no problem and I can do it pretty well. Doing the ice pick double load is a little trickier. I've taken to practicing in the living room while watching TV. Got some Fiocchi dummy rounds for that purpose.

Do I regret getting one? No. I only regret not getting one years ago when they were cheaper. Better late than never.

I'll always be a rifle and pistol guy. But there's something to be said for a nice shotgun.

I like the OEM forend on these. Maybe go full 'tard and put one of these on it:

OEM is cool too. Its really comfortable for some reason. Same could be said for the stock. But there's plenty of mlok slots on the Magpul forend so I'm gonna make it work.

Trick is figuring out what sort of light setup I want. Probably something from Arisaka. Don't think I'm going to run a sling. I know the tacticool dudes swear by them but I'm not sold. It would get in the way of where I want to put the light. It'll be for home defense...but mainly it'll be for goofing around at the range.

Maybe Eddie knows a light solution?
He has a light fetish. Among others.

I think this one with the Surefire Z68 clicky and the inline scout mount ought to do it. Doesn't need to be hugemongus or anything.

GG&G makes combined light and sling mounts for the 1301

Meanwhile somewhere in Central NC…

I love that Green!

I’ve been on the waitlist for one of these in all three colors and every time the email comes out by the time I get to the website they’re sold out. I think it this point I’m just gonna buy a stock version and upgrade it

The full-size Surefire scout worked well with its adjustable mounting system. With the size of the gun, I’d stay away from the micro lights.

Clicky cap worked well but I think I a hot bottom on the left side would be ideal with light mounted on the right.

I put 150rd through it today, 100 Federal birdshot 7.5 & 8, 25 Rio 00 buck, 20 Fiocchi 00 buck (my $170 Turkish guns hated this stuff), and 5 NSI 12 pellet 00 buck. It ate everything without a hiccup.
EF9DAB8C-EB83-492B-9034-8335E9E35F16.jpeg

I want to get another 100rd through it plus some Federal FC 00 before retiring my 870 from HD duty.

My only two issues today were:
1) the GG&G optic mount came loose so I’ll put some blue loctite on that tonight. Otherwise the Riton PRD (big brother to the $99 MPRD) did well.
2) the plastic barrel clamp was all the way up against the front sight by the end of the day and that was after tightening it once. Like most have reported, this made some wear marks on the barrel.

My TLR-1HL on Magpul offset mount looked great but was not the best idea. The rear edge of the mount recoiled into my thumb nail due to a lazy grip one time, ended up making a small split in my nail. I didn’t make that mistake again. I’ll be moving the light to the other side and run into a tape switch to the left side. I’m also considering trying a Protac 650lm since I can use this TLR elsewhere.

Did the manual of arms screw you up at all? Going from an 870 to the 1301 in 3 gun threw me off quite a bit. A forum member made me up some dead shot shells to practice running the gun in the basement and that has helped.

The location of the shell release button will take a little getting used to but otherwise not bad.
