I’ve got my Kidd set up, and I have a 2nd 10/22 with a ER Shaw barrel, but want to shave its weight down.

Looking at the Kidd Ultralight. My current Kidd is a 18” heavy bull. But it shoots perfectly.

Really torn... I have both a Kidd 16" LW and med fluted lw Green mountain that are both phenomenal and if you do your part will hold dimes with decent ammo. They are both parts rifles: part of this part of that and frequently get changed around. I had a full Volquartsen with the THM tension barrel that was sent back twice and finally sold because the groups were terrible but within their spec. For the price and time wasted I wouldn't try another it was really lite and super clean just didn't hit what I needed.

Well, if you want light weight, how does 5 ounces sound?
Shipments start next week ...

I have the previous titanium 8 oz version.

Waiting on one to ship for my son’s rifle. Ordered it when they were first made available. Last update was they hope to ship end of this month.

I felt a disturbance in the force and knew that a Rimfire discussion was underway.

Wiland makes great barrels if they ever ship them out. Major customer service issues right now. People aren’t getting orders for weeks or months. Social media is inflamed to say the least. But if you can get one they are wonderful if you need super light weight. Not so much on the accuracy front.

Kidd makes great barrels and if you can afford them I’d go for it if that’s your preference. But when it comes to fancy barrels id get a Volquartsen every time.

The best is a Volquartsen Lightweight. The Ultralight is indeed a few ounces less but the Lightweight will have better accuracy. This is per a discussion I had with Scott Volquartsen. Personally I support Volquartsen over Kidd because they do much more for the shooting sports than Kidd.

Tactical Solutions makes good barrels that are light and accurate. Not as accurate as Volquartsen. They also have a life span shorter than most I’ve seen since they have aluminum breach faces. For the sake of longevity again the nod goes to the Lightweight Volquartsen.

If you watch you can find Volquartsen blems on eBay for about $250.

I’ve had a few different kinds of barrels. Shot all of those mentioned above. In fact above worn out two TacSol barrels. If you want to cry once and weight is a factor, the answers are the Volquartsen Lightweight (link below) or the lightweight Kidd option.

Not just 'right now' ... sadly. I wish I wasn't personally aware of these issues.

Todd is a really great guy, a fine craftsman, and a true credit to the sport. He is worth supporting.
But he, or someone else there, doesn't fully 'get' modern customer relations, or expectations thereof.

People talk; this thread is a good example.
He risks spoiling his reputation by setting unreachable goals and then compounding the error with poor communications.

The only way for him to succeed in this business is for him to stop attempting to run a customer-direct operation.
Turn the place into a design-and-manufacturing-only firm, and then choose a retailer like Brownell's or Midway to do the actual selling.

That said, I remain delighted with my Wiland barrel and chassis. These represented a great value at the time and still do.

Another vote for Volquartsen. All my research led me to the same conclusion as @Studentofthegun . It really is buy once cry one situation. This is the only semi .22 I have and it's really the only semi .22 I need.
Superlight action with lightweight carbon fiber barrel stuffed into a Victor Titan stock. I'm not the best rimfire shooter in the world, but this thing makes me look better. I can only blame the fliers on myself and my cheaper Norma or CCI ammo.

Very sad to see this. This was not my experience last year dealing with them directly. I purchased a VQ complete rifle that had poor feeding and some accuracy problems. It was sent in several times from Feb 21' until Nov 21'. The communication with Scott and Teri was great. After two attempts and reworking the two different barrels and 3rd one full replacement I couldn't be happier with the service and communication. I have plenty of VQ parts and most everything has been good. I was very disappointed the complete rifle just wasn't a good match. The customer service and contact was solid 4/5.

For clarity:
The comments are about Wiland USA, not Volquartsen.

Volquartsen is well past excellent, in every respect and manner. No superlatives capture the full theme of experience.

I have the same set up, but Kidd trigger, Kidd Barrel. But I do love that stock also, and it’s likely what I will swap out my other 10/22 with a Boyd’s to.

The Kidd 2 stage trigger is the best one out there for shooting off a bench. It's the final thing a rifle like this needs. I'm satisfied with the VQ trigger, as it's got just enough resistance at like 2.5 pounds to be "safe" for woods romping while being not terrible on the bench either.

Yeah, my main. 10/22 is set up like this, for the other, I would rather save weight and change out the optic to a fixed power.

Currently running a SWFA SS 3-15, but looking to change to a Vortex SE 5-25.

I actually find the factory profile carbine barrel to be just about perfect.
Shaw makes a fluted factory profile I would like to try.

I walked into a gun shop to browse around. This TCR22 Performance Center was just traded in, I could not resist. No signs that it was ever fired. It is so light and the carbon fiber barrel looked awesome. It shoots great, but has its purpose.
