You can see about half of these are Christmas-tree style hold-off reticles, like those made famous by Horus. However, the EBR-2C and G2DMR reticles are simpler than Horus designs, which some shooters find distracting. Those hold-off reticles give you the ability to hold for wind and elevation for really quick shots. The other reticles allow you to hold for wind, but you’d typically need to dial your elevation adjustment so you aren’t holding off into empty space. Given enough time, it seems like most precision shooters prefer to dial for elevation, but if you need to make really quick shots a hold-off reticle can offer a huge advantage.

This info is such BS.

It's marketing at its best. People think PRS matters, that that group has some impact on what's "in".

Wow, I posted it for the reticle comparisons.
Personally I don't care about PRS but it's their article.

PRB does a good job of keeping up on the latest trends. It's not the definitive guide by any means but it's nice to see the gear that folks are using.

I've used 4 out of the 5 listed personally. For all around glass the S&B is the best of the bunch and you definitely pay for it. The one I run the most is a gen 1 razor, and it works for me. The H59 is my favorite reticle, but the EBR is second.

Oh, and best bang for the buck would go to the Bushnell in my opinion. Great piece of glass that you can pick up used for a pretty good discount and be super happy with.

John, I do think there is a "tension" between the PRS community and the mil/LEO community. Clearly, without the military improvements, one could argue the civilian PRS sector would not be quite that advanced. And the PRS community in turn refines some of the tech aspects of the mil community. I think it can be a win-win.

That said, there is nothing wrong with a 10x mil-dot scope with moa turrets; the Army and Marines still have plenty in inventory and they do a pretty good job of taking down targets.

Civilian Compatition from PRS to USPSA to 3-Gun molds, drives and shapes specialized training in the military.

Period.

The issue I have is driving sponsorship for PRS in these articles is not talked about. Vortex offers the best discount, that's why it's picked more then most.

Most of the top gear is self directed by a select few. It's called a market plan.

The use of Horus reticles and ATRAG started around 2009 and phased out after contracts were issued.

Now it's time to re-issue contracts the 5 year limit is coming to a close.
