Picked up a gun and a trade a while back. And I noticed a really good bit of copper in the barrel. After cleaning with a bore solvent hopps to be exact and putting numerous brushes and patches down the barrel I removed a lot of the material but there is still some left that I can't seem to get. What would be your go-to steps to deep clean your barrels ?

Montana X-treme copper killer 50BMG is what I use on my precision rifles when I want to clean everything out. When it says to make sure you have good ventilation, “it ain’t lying"
Noted lol appreciate it guys

While modern solvents and cleaners do a great job, I had always heard that the electronic cleaners did the absolute best job. I’ve never used one myself though.

Foaming bore cleaner is a staple in my cleaning box, not brand specific

I've never even heard of electronic cleaners. I should have known though. There's an easy way for everything these days. Definitely going to get some of the foaming bore cleaner and see if that does the trick

Unless you make your own you are out of luck. They haven’t been made for a while. You basically filled the barrel with a solution, put a rod down the middle of the barrel, and applied an electric charge across the rod and the barrel. Every molecule of copper was removed in short order.

Didn’t do anything for lead, of course.

I have an Outers Foul Out Bore Cleaning System I got a long time ago.
Worked very well on copper and lead.
Still have some lead fluid, need to find a copper fluid.

In gunsmithing we used ballistol exclusively. Let it soak then boresnake it, repeat a couple days in a row and the barrel always looked great by the end. Some of these other methods sound faster though.

Well no result today didn't get them dialed in until it was to late. The LAR-8 scope bottomed out on me when go any lower. It was foot above the target. In the market for a new scope for that one. The Wilson was shooting good groups but could use a little bit more magnification only 6x. The precision rifle is just that precision got dark before we could really get it Dialed in, but it was shooting one hole on top of another hole. Will continue Friday I'm off work so I will be starting in the morning. I will keep the updates coming.

If anyone has some good glass for sale decent prices let me know

I’ve the same set. DO NOT leave in the barrel longer than what the instructions state!
It ate a small ring in the steel where one of the o-rings was.

I used it regularly while in the Corps. Being in aviation we always had one around.

The best way to clean a barrel is to cork the muzzle and then fill up the barrel with mercury. Let it sit for 30’min then uncork it and drain the mercury.

Probably can’t do that anymore tho.
