Big oof on /r/NFA - Taking a rifle can to a 2 gun match

Having come withing a mm or two of grabbing a can after full auto fire I feel his pain.

My buddy told me one day in the army after they did range day (he was armor or cav?) one of their newer dudes picked up a .50 by the barrel and a lot of pain ensued. Said it took 4 months for the guy to regain full control of his hands

I had done a couple of mags through a suppressed MP5 and set it down to pick another gun to shoot and realized it wasn't well situated. I reached out to move it by grabbing the suppressor and the radiant heat waves stopped me a couple of mm short of a nasty burn.

Yep. Just like a wipe. First round makes the hole. No reason at all to peel out the hole on this one.
Never had any experience with wipes, although we had a little Diamondback DB9 with a threaded barrel and a tiny fat suppressor that used wipes. I really wanted it.

In most cases, the wipe is solid until you fire the first round. Some may have slits (like a + cut into the center). Very few at all will have an actual hole.

Are wipes ever used in anything not pistol caliber?
Some rimfire cans. The pressure of a centerfire rifle round would probably destroy it and possibly have pieces end up in the bore path.

"Non secure locking ring. Resulting in canted can. The strike appears 2” into suppressor"

Don't know about the trash cans but I can tell you what a bed liner will do to a can or flash hider! What a mess!
