Anybody have 1st hand experience with something like this? I have an idea for a booby trap at the next event I’m hosting.

Assuming everyone has ear pro, how loud are these things?

How difficult to activate? I’m thinking old school trip wire set up.

I use them throughout my backyard if I’m out of town. They are very nifty. The quality from fith ops is high. I suggest the basic model that uses 209 shotgun primers. I’ve not tested it but they should be around 120-125 dB, which is enough to scare the snot out of someone not expecting it. The main issue is setting them up correctly and understanding how to properly mount them in place.

the simple model I use (and like) is below. Be sure to keep the extra “safety” pin in place until you’re ready to arm it.

I've used 209 primers in surplus smoke grenade tops. They work very well, and make lotsa noise.

Love it or hate it, they're about 20% of that price on temu.

Same exact thing.

How quickly can they be reset...at night, possibly under NODs or red light?

to replace the primer and set them back up? Well assuming the device is really well secured it would take a few minutes. Remove spent primer, insert fresh primer, safety pin, set the trip wire and pin in place, remove safety pin and voila. A headlamp with red light would work well. Now the larger device (ie your posted link) has more mounting options like zip ties or screws. If you’re gonna setup the same device a bunch of times then the securing method would be major consideration.

the fith ops devices are super cool I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy them.

Reset time is a major concern. I'm thinking of having this as a 'gotcha' in a run n gun match. So, a new competitor coming through a stage every 5-6 minutes at BEST and people staged waiting their turn at worst. So, getting people through quickly is a major concern.

Believe you, but can’t find them. Can you find them again and post link?

Install 4 or 5 of them, just put the wire up and arm one at a time, cuts your time down to a few seconds. Recharge as time permits.
Money solves most problems,

Strange. They WERE there, I bought some for about $10 ea. Curious what the reason is that they vanished. I know why the $20 solvent traps went away - and suspect they'll be back after the attention dies down.

Actually, looking at the design, if you were to use primed 12g shells you wouldn’t have to do anything but slide one out and slide a new one in.

I just grabbed one to see. The primer cup has a groove cut into it, and the body won't accept a 12g shell.

$20 a pop on fleabay

$9 direct from China.

I found the same calibre (12g) as he posted, the 22 and primer ones are cheaper.

What is a .22 caliber primer? Does that mean a .22 blank? A 209 is mighty close to .22, maybe .24? Strange.

Some take 22 blanks. Some take 209 primers. That's what the word "and" was for.
