Blue Force Gear

Saw this. I wish their IFAK wasn’t insanely overpriced to begin with. It’s like 75 bucks with nothing in it. 199 full.

Puke.

I saw that too. I was looking and IFAKs recently and thought the $75 was the full price and realized it was empty. For that price, I'll stick with my issued IFAK.

And that $199 kit full is full of stuff that I can get for about $10.00. Plus the cheap pouch .

Well, the TQ is $20-30, and a hemostatic dressing can be $50 or more, but your point is spot on: you can find the ingredients inexpensively and use a cheap, nylon bag of ebay. The issue IFAK bags are $5.

Got excited for a second and confused blue force gear for blue alpha gear. I need another blue alpha belt set up for 10mm handgun and 308 rifle.

Maybe if you buy from them. TQs are cheap, I can get them for around $5.00, I've probably got a dozen of them around. You can shop around and get the quick clot or other hemostatic dressings for $10.00 or less.

Not new or recent issue or not expired.

Yeah you can buy military surplus that's been sitting as stock in the IFAK at an unknown temperatures, conditions, etc. Caveat emptor and all. That stuff is dirt cheap and I buy it for training supplies for classes.

Don’t get me wrong but first aid is not something I search by lowest price. Id hate to need one of those $5 TQs one day and it’s FUBAR’d.

I'm a Paramedic, I don't go by lowest price, but I also don't buy from places that inflate their prices either. I've used these $5.00 TQs, they work. I just know where to buy stuff, I used to do purchasing for a Rescue Squad.

Any advice on sites that sell to civilians for the best prices?

Where can we buy these $5 TQs?

How people charge that much for life-saving equipment is unfathomable to me.

Look at NARP. I have insiders discount. If you see something you like, let me know. The only thing I'll charge is shipping from me to you.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same company. NARP as in North American Rescue?

Feel free to pm your source. My gut tells me they aren't CoTCCC-approved, but I'd like to take a look.

I'm just scared of getting fakes that fall apart when used and never being the wiser.

Look up Committee of TCCC ( CoTCCC), approved tourniquets. Then with that list, go shopping. You can find them reasonably priced, especially during sales. Never buy one that isn't CoTCCC-approved. eBay can have some deals for previous generations (NARP CAT I think is on gen 7 or 8 now). Nothing wrong with them, they are just older.

BFG gear is VERY proud of their stuff.
I've a BFG sling on an AR that I'm probably using wrong. 90% of the time I want to adjust it, I have to pull it off, or slide the rifle to my back to reach the pull tab.

Yeah... Sounds like you have it backwards. The pull tab should be infront of you.

They are proud of their stuff. I have a Vickers sling I bought off BDU and it was still pricey.

As far as the ifak goes idk if I'm a fan of how it stays in it's sleeve with Velcro. I'm just not a big Velcro fan. "Live the creed" has a ifak that is the same size but has two wings that have buckles to hold it on. I hate it's price too. Seems anything attaching to a belt is stupid expensive. I keep random crap in my ifak that isn't necessarily emergency use only (compass, tape etc) so I'm trying to avoid a blow out pouch seems like that's the only option for the cheap Chinese knock offs.

I like my BFG Sling, but I actually like my Botach sling more lol. The Botach uses a seatbelt type material instead of the more fabric-y webbing BFG uses. Prob not as strong, but it adjusts much more rapidly.

Do you all put your IFAK contents in a waterproof bag? Or are there waterproof IFAKs that aren't huge? I'd be afraid of water damage to the contents (If its on your belt, and you shoot in some light rain)

I switched from BFG to SOB Tactical. Similar, but lighter, easier to adjust, less cumbersome and less excess webbing.

No. Everything that need to be sealed already is. I HAVE vacuum-sealed IFAK contents for my back-up kit, but just to squeeze the area down a little to make room.

The only thing in mine that gets put into a separate sealed bag is tape. It gets gummy and screwed up when it's loose. I've had "stainless" scissors rust at the pivot joint. I didn't replace them, but I can see where they could benefit from a zip lock if they were new.
