I'm looking for a way to store some firearms that would slow down a thief. I have two safes but they are filling up and I have to admit that some of the guns I have are of relatively low value...say under $500.

So, do you think if I bolted two D rings (5,000 pound strength) to the floor with long bolts that I could bend 90 degrees under the house that it would deter a thief? Run 1/4 cable through the trigger guards with a good quality lock. I've seen big box stores lock up atv's, grills, and lawnmowers in a similar fashion. Cable is more difficult to cut than a chain and if they took the gun apart and left the trigger assembly they wouldn't have much to pawn or sell at the local street corner. Just thinking of some cheap means of storing these guns. I really don't want another safe. 1624200746919.png

The ones pictured would work well. Attach them with lag bolts. Regular bolt cutters will pinch that cable and you have to whack the bolt cutter with a hammer to cut braided cable completely. Ask me how I know

With the intent to slow down a thief, yes it would work. But the time delay will depend on how educated, prepared, and determined the thief is on stealing your guns.

Most of thieves in our local community are rather stupid but very desperate.

Sounds like a story in the making. :D

I'd worry about how much damage they'd do to the guns trying to get them off that.

Also a lot of trigger guards are not steel, they may just yank and twist until the gun comes off. Sure it would probably be busted but it will still be gone, or left behind ruined.

If you have a garage or basement, just buy a job box. They are steel, can be locked, and placed in the right surroundings,a thief would not give it a second glance. They are good to store things that you won't be using everyday. You can find used ones that in a garage,no one would give it a second glance even if was full of gold and ammo.

I believe Iā€™d store the rarely used guns under the house. Of course, they must be stored in a low humidity environment.
