I recently purchased a Belgian made Browning A5. It’s a “Light Twelve” model and has a 26 inch Improved Cylinder barrel.
I’m curious if many people shoot buckshot through these older A5’s and if so how do they usually pattern? I know I need to shoot it myself and test the pattern. Just wondering what others have done/have any info. The one I have was made in 1954 and has all of the friction rings.

I shoot buckshot through my 3"Magnum with a modified fixed choke. I found that different shells give different patterns. Some are terrible while some are fine. That particular gun really likes Winchester buffered copper plated #4 buck. I have used it quite effectively on deer. I did shoot a lot of different loads before I found one that satisfied me. Another 3" Auto 5 I have wears a barrel with a fixed full choke. It seems to do better with #1 buck.

Thats a very nice looking Auto-5 and should do well with buckshot. The way things are today, its hard to find a lot of different loads to try. I'd start with an el cheapo 00 loading to get the feel of things. If you can find it, Federal Flite-Control buckshot shoots the best for me by a wide margin.
