I just picked up a really nice Browning bar 22lr made in 1978. Anyone have much experience with this rifle? It seems like a nice built rifle I'm hoping it shoots as good as it looks.

I used to have one of those awhile back in a the late 70's early '80s. It was a nice built .22 and accurate for a semiauto. I do remember it being pretty heavy for a .22 but I liked it.

I was hoping to get it out this weekend but the weather is not looking good for a range day

If I temember correctly, it had both a squared off receiver and later a rounded receiver. Mine was the squared off version of the receiver. Nice built .22 rifle.

Never knew this gun existed. Very cool. I have a Safari Grade BAR in 308 and it is very accurate.

I really didn't know about them either until I ran across this one in a pawnshop. I hope this one shoots good and it will become another squirrel rifle.

What did you pay? I saw one for $600 a while back and it seemed high.
I would buy another one at $600 if I had the opportunity if it's in the condition this one is in. I gave 700 for this one. But I may of paid to much but didn't feel like I did

@ $700 you did good. Here is the sold price for a couple that recently sold on Gun Broker

I felt like it was a decent buy especially for a well built semi auto rifle.

I had one from early 80s. I only shot it a couple trips to the woods. It was a solid accurate gun but was sold when during a time when I liquidated most of my guns one month because back then I hardly ever shot. I have a 1964 era Browning SA-22 currently I have yet to shoot.
