A noose was found in the garage stall of the #43 Richard Petty car before the start of the Talledega race yesterday. NASCAR is investigating. How long should that take? The garage area has more cameras than Ft Knox! There were only 5k invited fans there. No pit or garage passes. The only folks allowed in the garage area were NASCAR officials, teams and track employees. Is this another Jussie Smollett move to gin up publicity? It will be interesting to see what they have to say today at 3 when they race on FOX.

That was my first impression. He or a member of his crew put it there. Will be interesting to see the outcome of the investigation or if this story just "disappears".

There was also a huge parade of vehicles flying the Stars and Bars in front of the speedway yesterday. I wonder if they will be back for the restart of the rain delay today?

Kinda sorta but I do not think Wallace did it ... just a feeling. BUT someone on the team (or even in NASCAR) sure could have to drum up PR stunt for a mid to low tier team or even make some sort of rebuttal to the various Confederate Flag displays? I do not think there’s so white supremacist threat.

I don't think he was involved and suspect someone from his team. I hadn't thought of NASCAR being involved for PR.

I really doubt someone from NASCAR would do it for PR. They’re already fighting the stereotype that NASCAR is “The sport of rednecks”. Putting a noose in a stall like this would hurt the image they’re trying to shape for themselves. Could’ve been Bubba? I don’t know, seems like folks would’ve learned their lesson after the Jessie‘s mullet case. But you never know.

Personally I kind of feel like it would be the douche bag move of someone like a sports agent or a Business manager trying to drum up headlines for their client to score endorsement deals, things like that.

Has anyone seen Kyle?

This is the biggest thing to happen to nascar since Bill Elliot caused them to start using restrictor plates

I hope it's not another Jussie Smollett.

Quite frankly, there is no need for that kind of behavior, because it seems there's ALWAYS some *sshole/idiot out there perfectly willing to pull stupid stunts like this.

My opinion on the matter?

We're f*cking 2 decades into the 21st century. People need to grow the f*ck up.

"I do not know who put it there or why. We may never know. But we can STRONGLY CONDEMN it and the legacy of racism it carries with it...."

Nascar has been losing money from early fan base. Rockingham and North willkesboro fans for years. They have to make it a Jerry Springer motor sports so they can make money from future fans

Please tell me it's time to add variable wing surfaces and build tracks with upside down portions to stretch driver skill and utilize the incredible downforce that those cars generate under speed...

Just to keep the record straight the restrictor plates were first used in 1971 on the big motors. Small motors were allowed to run full throttle until years later when Elliot surpassed the speeds ran by the earlier big motors, that and Bobby Allison going airborne with near entry into the grandstands.

NASCAR needs to go back to racing cars that have to come from the showroom floor. Let the teams "soup" them up and run what you brung.
I feel about this like I do service rifle competition. Go as issued. Draw a car or rifle and ammo and go for it. All this other BS is not "stock car" racing just like a shooting jacket, glove and 1" bbl is not service rifle shooting.

Oh, please, please, please, let bubba have been that stupid. If it was him I guarantee they will say they don't know who did it. Especially after they have come out and said they would ban them for life. They need him to bring in all of the new fans he has.

Haven’t they got a shit ton of cameras there? I would think they already know who did it. Or have a good idea. The longer it takes the more spidey senses perk up.

I think they should be given a certain amount of money and have to go buy a car. Used or new. The buyer would be anonymous so that they wouldn't be given any deals. That would be a fun race to watch. No soupin up though.

Souping up moonshine cars was what started stock car racing. Not allowing that would be like watching the old IROC stuff where all cars were equal (supposedly). Half the fun of the old stock car racing was seeing how good someone's crew chief was.

Souped up moonshine cars were raced in a separate division know as Modifieds. The Stock Car division when initiated was a closely inspected effort to allow only stock production cars to race but factories as well as innovating mechanics turned the division into a fiasco soon thereafter. By 1957 all competitive cars came equipped with a variety of engines using mulitiple carburation, some with fuel injection as well as superchargers, special chassis’s and suspension parts. NASCAR gave up true stock cars and spent it’s time promoting safety and stock appearing race cars, a cost effective measure on their part.
